Description Colored Pencil on Matte Paper. This was originally drawn as a total nude, but it was like too much so I drew a swim suit on her and now I like it a lot better. 8.5x11 You can see the original drawing before the swim suit in scraps.

how did u take such a clear picture under water?!!?? this is beautiful... i saw it as a thumbnail and i was like... i thought i searched drawings, not photographs! lol... but really.. how?

There are underwater cameras that take clear pictures. I did not take this picture. I am not sure where I even saw it but I saved it off of the internet. It was a total nude, which, for me, was like too much so I chose a green Bikini bottom and drew the picture that you see.
Thanks,
John

Underwater drawings intimidate me but looking at this makes me want to atleast try it. I really like the upsidedown reflection and the water marks on the thighs. Great work.

Very impressive use of pencils....I personally just can't get results like that with them...need the blending powers of oil paints.

I would liek to have seen it totally nude, but thats just me

I have the original form of the drawing in scraps .

Jumprabbit In reply to johnwickart [2006-03-05 01:14:10 +0000 UTC]

I'm assuming the photo is whats giving the different colour overall? or did you recolour the whole thing for balance?

I would say its a hard call which is better. As much as I love naked women in art, I've never actaully taken the plunge and made a work like that, so I'd probably do the same I guess. The reflected orange highlights between the legs were cool though

johnwickart In reply to Jumprabbit [2006-03-05 02:38:04 +0000 UTC]

Just two different cameras. The first photo of the drawing ( the total nude) is two years old and the version with the swim suite was from last week. Otherwise try to imagine the drawings being fairly similar other than the swim suit and the reflected suit. Thanks.

Jumprabbit In reply to johnwickart [2006-03-05 08:06:59 +0000 UTC]

ahhh ok. Well I think I'd make the same call in the end....hard one though. Yo udid realyl well to add the suit in so smoothly. you'd never know it wasn't there.

I have a photo of it before the swim suit and I will see if I can dig it up and I will send it to your email. Let me see what I can do.

Thanks. I studied underwater shots and got a feel for the visual effects that are created. The reflected parts are the same and you have a lot of flexibility in you want to present that.
