I picked the rebel xsi because of its size. I bigger camera was to big and to heavy. Photography is just a hobby for that I never plan on making money from. I like pressing and hearing that shutter button....lol.

I originally purchased it on a whim so I would have a decent camera for a summer trip in 2009. As it turned out, I really LOVE photography, and I'm finding that the Rebel XSi doesn't fit all my needs. One of the big ones is Astrophotography, which I have wanted to do for years. I need something with far lower noise to do that. While, like you, I LOVE the XSi's compactness and weight for trips, its ISO range is very small and noise is terrible at higher ISO levels. That has ended up limiting me in a lot of ways, and I'm looking to get the Canon 5D Mk II sometime in the next year.
Until then, I figure the XSi will serve me very well as I take photos around Colorado this year.

I never go beyond 200 ISO but I hate noise too. the 5d mark......im so happy for you that you will be getting that. Me im just a accidental photographer and the rebel is all Ill ever need. Have you went up to bishops castle yet?

That must have been a precious moment for you. I never had my cam with me when the migratory birds flew away this year, so I didn't get a shot. ^-^
