Probably going to be my last submission for a long while...Well its inevitable...a sword fight between Sokka and Zuko. A great time to see how good Sokka really is.
Took me a while to get the poses and perspective the way it is. I had actually sketched out quite a few different fighting positions. In the end though, I settled for something I could pull of nicely and had a certain level of dynamics.

And then Sokka pulled out the boomerang in pure frustration. But at least he got Zuko to say, "swordbending."

Very dynamic! It reminds me of that short story in the Avatar: The Last Airbender comic book entitled Swordbending. The short story collection was The Lost Adventures, and featured Zuko and Sokka dueling with swords.

I'm shocked this didn't happen on the show. Anyway, give the edge to Sokka cuz, His sword has gotta be made of some kinda titanium alloy which is as light as aluminum yet as strong as (if not stronger) then most steel. His blade would cut thru Zuko's like a

There was a comic where sokka challenged zuko to a '"swordbeing kai" although it was revealed that Zuko also trained from Pando in this short comic, sokka could not beat zuko in sword combat but wins in the boomerang department.

I think Sokka can get good. He's just been the only one in his village to really fight because Katara is just learning her water bending. I think he can be a good Warrior. Zuko is cool. So far fire bending is my favorite style. Plus double swords!!! I'm not sure who to cheer for...

Zuko would win via experience and skill. He beat Jet and was barely trying. However I think there's a high probability that this fight DID happen... offscreen. In season 3 Zuko joined the team to teach Aang firebending. So what do you think he was doing while Aang was working with Toph or Katara? Just sitting around? My guess is that offscreen during season 3, Zuko sparred with Sokka to help him improve his skills. With time and experience I think Sokka will eventually get better than Zuko due to having a higher skill ceiling. Master Piandao DID say that Sokka would become even greater than him. ...Eventually.

Faved for an outstanding job on a dynamic action scene with martially-accurate stances, hand/blade positions, and most especially (for the Chinese swordsman in me) grip. I can really see how the battle unfolded based on their forms. Great shading and colors, too! Thank you for taking the time to make this accurate to Chinese martial arts, unlike the work of most AtLA fan artists.

Sokka's muscles look amazing, as does his facial expression. Something is wrong with Zuko's right arm, I think...? Not sure what, cant put my finger on it . The sahdows/lighting is great--really sets the tone. A great idea overall! Oh and I LOVE the background.

They actually have this very scenerio in the new graphic novel. Sokka "wins" by resorting to his boomerang.

Zuko's background is the fire nation symbol - behind him.
Sokka's is actually the SWT and the White Lotus - because thats where he learned his sword skills.

I don't know... Sokka does learn quickly but we've seen Zuko in Blue Spirit, he could face off against multiple opponents at the same time without getting scratched, I'd think he's way above Sokka's level in speed and technique...
Besides, who say Sokka learns so quickly? His training mostly consisted of a different way to THINK, rather than of improving his fighting skills. His master himself said that Sokka's technique was still abysmal.

as far as the pose and the blades go, i am not sure if that is an actually feasable stance. that said, the picture as a whole is dynamic and the coloring is very nice. the anatomy is great in the arms as well.

I'd actually thought about this a few days before, I'm glad an artist is coming out with the idea. I can see the intensity in their expressions. Detail is put into their clothes and Sokka seems a little muscled up. And to tell the truth I think all rounds would be a tie. This is a bias opinion because I like them both.
