This scene is for some reason captivating to me and it makes me want to stare into it all day. maybe its the mystery and the finality of the gloomy cave opening and the last glow of the light before Tuor abandons the life he had before. Whatever it is, I love it with all my soul.

All right. I don't mean to argue but what you say makes entirely no sense with what you told someone earlier in the comment section that your intention was to make it Tuor and Voronwe. And your placement of them in a cave, looking back on a Elvish City fits more with those two leaving Vinyamar.
Just saying, even if you intend it to be Turin, the environment, the scene itself harkens only of Tuor.

This moment changes all of history...I just read the longer version of their journey in Unfinished Tales.
This piece is a creative and artistic gem.

Beautiful painting! Yet one still wonders from which part of Tolkien's book (or shall we say "books", including The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and HoMe, perchance) the general idea of this painting derive, since what the painting has depicted seems rather, well, difficult to be linked to the original story. In UT, it is described that Huor met with TWO Elves (Gelmir & Arminas) when he arrived at Gate of the Noldor whereas there is only one in the painting. In addition, there weren't any great cities nigh the Gate.

Thanks! My favorite Sillmarillion story is of the children of Hurin, but maybe one day I'll get a chance to illustrate them all.
