Trying to get better at illustrating characters. I imagine this would have been right before Nienor stumbled through the mist and ran into Glaurung, and we all know how that ended

Not bad. I love your depiction of Nienor - it's a very nice change from the common pre-feminist portrayals of her wearing nothing but a thin white gown when she goes looking for Turin. I just love her wrist-bands, her body-armour, her Roman skirt, and her travelling cloak, plus I love the way she, on top of these things, is holding a dagger and is in low-angle. 
Your portrayal of Glaurung looks pretty lazy by the way it's just a crocodile head with a fin stuck on, but it looks from the way Nienor's in the foreground and Glaurung's in mist like Nienor is this picture's focus, so I'll forgive that.
Not a bad picture at all, with a delightfully fresh and much-more-interesting portrayal of Nienor.

I love the dagger. On one hand it says a lot about the character, and on the other hand it's so completely... hopeless against something the size of Glaurung. Makes the sense of doom that much more poignant.

Thanks! I just figured that as a daughter of Hurin, she wouldn't just meekly walk into the mist, but at the same time, she's worried.
