Hi, what kind of book? I do license artwork for a fee, so it's certainly a possibility.

My first gaming character ever was a runethane with an affinity for alchemy. This totally reminded me of him!

Curious on how you used Sketchup in making this. I suppose you sketched out background architecture, but still it would be very nice to see how you blended it with the painterly style.

I'll try and find the time to pull up any in progress shots I have - crazy busy in this run up to xmas, so it might be in the New Year. What I do though, in text explanation form, is make a model of the setting, often fairly detailed, and move the camera around to get the right shot for the image - this usually takes half a dozen 2d exports and messing around with the lens depth to get just right. I then trace it off freehand and ditch the model at that point. I then paint as normal as if it were a regular sketch.

Sometimes I'll make even less direct use of the model and just draw from it by eye, rather than tracing.

Astounding.
I understood the whole process as you wrote it down. Still, it would be awesome to see progress shots: I will look forward to it.

Thank you for kindly sharing your art & know-how

Absolutely beautiful. The variations in color make the scene pop, and the background doesn't leave anything to be desired. Lovely contrast with the glowing bottles and the darkened room.
