Description

For the longest time I got inspired to draw some Holmes and Watson doing their lovey-doveys.

Heavily inspired by the old Russian series for reasons. Many of them related to red smoking jackets and cutest Watsons.

Aww, so lovely! I love the sweet scene you've drawn here (Watson sitting on the armrest, HOLDING HOLMES' HAND) and not only the topic itself is charming, also the style in which it is drawn! It has something enchantingly adorable! Those irregular lines and texture-like hatchings do a lot to accentuate the cosy atmosphere. And the blanket! Livanov-Holmes trademark-jacket! The pretty armchair! Perfection! A very beautiful picture which represents those two with their commitment superbly!

Aw, thank you very much! I'm glad you find it as adorable that I wish it to be. Red Livanon-jacket is probably my favorite piece of clothing from the whole series, so I had to draw it in. And well... cute Watson is the speciality is Russian Holmes^^

But yeah, thanks for the compliment again^^

Awww look at that adorable Watson! I love the colors you used in this. The way they all blend looks great!

New Russian series doesn't have a very cute Watson, but it has the cutest Holmes I've ever seen. And he wears glasses!

Oh yeah yeah yeah, I like the new Russian series with passion too,m though, to have a cuteness overload wouldn't it be nice to have Holmes from the new one and Watson from the old one hon hon hon hon hon.

No, actually, no, the old series is pitch perfect already, wouldn't change A THING.

Oh man, Holmes from new Russian series and Watson from old series would be the actual cutest combination ever. Far too much cute for one series.

And yes, the classic series is the best series, always and forever.

I did like the new Russian series a whole lot though. Russians usually have such an interesting and different look on their adaptations. I especially likes this new take in the way that it sort of felt very realistic? I don't knwo, something about the sets and clothing, nothing felt too polished like in many period dramas... I mean, clothes were wrinkled like they would be if worn in real life, houses and furniture looked slightly out of order like in normal homes... and yet it  avoided being "gritty", like many Western adaptations tend to, when they go for "realistic".

Aha aha, if you get what I'm saying.

The old series is like my baby though. The fact that it's so superb when it's kinda obvious they're cutting expenses fron every corner possible is amazing. Russian actors you know, they pull off *anything*

Yes, yes, that's exactly how it felt to me- the Russian adaptations feel more true to Victorian life than any other adaptations of Holmes I've seen from the West, not really trying for dark or idealistic but just how it was back then.

Aaah, you don't have to tell me twice, the old Russian series was absolutely flawless.

Well, it's party due to the lack of resources, especially in the USSR-times, that forced to be greatly creative in Russian TV and movies. They tend to focus on actors and scripting to  hide away lacking aspects of forexample enviroments and believable clothing and so on and so forth. Sometimes restriction is the best aid for creativity^^

True, very true. I think I'd take good acting over good costume any day.

Russuan do take their art seriously on all fields... very diciplined and harsh look on artistry, but you know... results are often stunning.
