One of the cool things about art is letting ones imagination go outside the box.
It is a lot of fun.

Beautiful! I never had a treehouse as a kid, but I could only ever dream of one like this.

Think is has kind of an Alice/wonderland feel, in the future I want to do something like that.
Thank you again.

Thank you so much for the great comment, hmmm, I never thought of Alice, but I see it now.
The fungi took forever to do, but it was the most enjoyable part to paint.
As far as the inspiration there was none, I just started painting and this happened.
That happens in the majority of my work, instead of starting with a preconceived idea I just let it go
where ever it will flow.

I often start with a place, piece of architecture, sculpture or any ordinary photo of non human denomination - i feel a picture coming on for later and make notes out in the field. Then i get home and download my pics only to find a different story emerges.. ....is it to stay REAL or become a crazy odd piece i can call my own .
So in a way im like you....i get to the computer stage open a picture- any one will do and i begin.........I feel like Leonardo da Vinci about to create a new machine for living. Only my image will not be a masterpiece for the world to revere.
It is such a buzz when it goes right.
You are creating right from blank page and i could never do that.......your so clever - Mandyx

I can’t say I have ever felt like Leonardo da Vinci lol but it is great when you like the outcome.
Clever…hardly, just different.
There is so much great creativity on this site. I think its awesome when people create art that makes the viewer stop and say wow.

This is a really nice idea and a cool painting, however, the somewhat values and the lack of atmospheric light is what I believe it lacks. What I'm trying to say is that the further something is (like the trees), the more de-saturated it needs to be for it to look realistic and to give that sense of 3D on a 2D canvas.
I suggest watching this video . It helped me a lot with my paintings once I learned about this.

Values are something I always struggle with, something I have been trying to concentrate on more.
Think I have a fear of going to light or dark because it may look good on my laptop and not on another pc.
That is a very informative video, thanks.

I have the same problem. I always lose contrast and end up having to use some layer modes/styles to increase the contrast. It's really a pain but hopefully we will both be able to easily paint values without having to worry about messing up.
