Grevious was pretty much was badass from his first appearance from the same way Vader was in his, shows a massive battle it stops hears an intimidating score with everyone one else shown to be scared of him. Because lets be honest Vader didn't of anything besides look intimidating which is fitting because he was suppose to be the final foreshadowing of Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader.

He was badass but I think it says something that after the initial onslaught we only see K'Kruhk (big furry guy)'s dead body and his was the death that was retconned. This was due to the fact that K'Krunk was created by Dark Horse Comics and they didn't give permission for him to be killed off so they were understandably pissed, so they made a slight running gag in their comics where K'Kruhk keeps showing up after everyone thinks he's dead and it got to the point where he was on the new Jedi Council centuries after Luke was dead. I think while the writers at Dark Horse will never admit it they didn't quite like the original Clone Wars, I mean they even stated in some guide book that the little boy in the Mace Windu episodes grew up to become a pro-Jedi propaganda film maker, implying the series is in-universe propaganda!
They also apparently weren't happy with how Durge was handled either...

But the thing to remember about Dark horse was the fact their stuff even when the 2003 stuff wasn't cannon. It was just an extension of how they wanted the life to be like. 2003 was cannon on to the film and were giving permission to pretty much add whatever stuff they wanted.

I think Ki-Adi Mundi himself said "We may have been tired, but when was the last time someone stood up to five Jedi and held his own?"

the fact is, He killed JEDI. without any Force abilities. Daakman Barrek was a Master, recall. and if the ARC troopers hadn't shown up, Ki-Adi-Mundi would have joined those five. a COUNCIL MEMBER. one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy.
who else besides Sith have we seen kill Jedi, without relying on massed firepower EG the Geonosis arena and Order 66?
Jango Fett. but that was only one.

There were Mandolorians during the Knights of the Old Republic games, and The Old Republic has Imperial Agents (your player character) kill off Jedi. There were a few.

it's still not an everyday occurrence: Mandalorians and Sith Agents both had assets and training to deal with force-users and lightsaber wielders. lightsaber-proof armor is always a plus.
not to mention that those jedi fell AFTER the CIS achieved a major ground victory over the Republic. Shaak Ti said it herself: "never have we been outmaneuvered by DROIDS. his strategy is without flaw."
how often did we see the CIS win, outright, in the CG cartoon? i honestly can't recall a single occurrence. not much of a threat if they never Appear to be a threat, you know? at least in the Microseries we saw clearly that the CIS could actually WIN BATTLES, justifying the expenditures being placed on the Republic.

Admittedly I haven't seen the 2003 series in a long time, but the only time I remember the Separatists "winning" was at the end when they take Chancellor Palpatine. And even that backfired in Revenge of the Sith when they rescue Palpatine.

there was a montage in the middle of part 2 of the 2003 series where we see the CIS overruning a series of planets, destroying defenses, taking Clones prisoner, etc.

Oh yeah that's true. But that's in a single montage sequence. Every other time we see the Separatists they lose to the Republic and the Clone Army. Hell, the kidnapping of the Chancellor might as well be a desperate move on their part.

His name was Sha'Gi as a joke. Possibly a reference to Scooby doo and the reluncant werewolf where Dracula actully pronounces shaggy's name like that.

He was badass because he don't talk much, has the look of a psycho, stay invisible when you hear him approach, is unstoppable, don't run like a coward, fight like a demon. You don't actually need to see him kill Jedi to know he is a goddam Jedi exterminator (all the opposite of the movie and TCW)
