long live the weather prince. although there's no sign of rain in mk11 (yet), he's right here with a new royal-style outfit and fabulous crown. his face is an upgrade of his mkx repaint, his hair now has natural texture, and he's fully posable with removable outfit accessories. i'm releasing him now so rain can go on adventures while he's on the roster wait list... have fun!
(shout out to my friend rainreptile for misreading the model WIP name and inspiring me to finish it as a way better version)

detailed info:
-this is just a newer, fancier rain, dressed in his usual purple and gold for the royalty look. his outfit details have extra patterning like wave motifs and silky draped cloth, plus an elaborate golden crown (designed/sculpted new, and visually inspired by his mask)
-the entire texture is repainted by hand, as always. this final version has a much more colorful scheme than i originally intended; this started as commoner rain (a kind of generic everyday outworlder outfit) until my friend misread it as commander rain, which is way cooler. so i updated it accordingly, and now it's princely enough to finish and release
-his hair is better! i've given him curly/wavy texture to match his looks, since he is clearly black according to his face structure. giving him plain straight hair just felt like a cop-out, so i redid it and now am finally happy with it (it matches his curly hairline, too). his ponytail is also textured, and the hair ribbons are the same as before
-the outfit is re-fitted to rain's body with his own upper arms from the mkx model; he also has a complete neck now. his hands are the same too, with his fancy golden hand-guards and everything, but i repainted them a little bit for better fingernails and knuckle joints
-the optional items are: shoulderpads (which have their own adjustment points, arm shoulderpad ctrl), collar, belt buckles, and crown
-he has the standard posing structure but no bonus limb adjustment points (he doesn't really need them) plus four spine posing points, the standard lower/middle a/middle b/upper
-he also has the simplified expression posing structure you've come to expect on the mkx and mkx style models. his face needed no updating as rain is already very handsome, and always was, beneath the incomplete mkx paint job. yes, he really looks like this

Prettyboy Rain I'm particularly fond of the golden details on his hip guards. All in all, a spiffy outfit

honestly, I'm starting to think he has a chance - that's part of why i got him done and posted early just in case! there's going to be a big announcement tomorrow, but i have no clue what... leading guesses are a) noob b) new character c) probably not rain but just imagine...

Since we've seen Kotal's three outfits now, it's safe to exclude that figure on the purple menu screen being him. Rain's chances just grew a little. I think he might be a secret unlockable this time.
As for today's announcements, the DLC is Spawn, I'm 99% sure of it. And the MK character reveal has to be a very popular character who we haven't seen since MK9 (Noob or maybe Shang) or a brand new one (my money is on the Kollektor).
*Edited after the C2E2 reveals: so it looks like the guy in said menu pic is the generic character that you play as in the Krypt section......

i have mixed feelings about that generic character - i think it's not actually a generic, but i don't have even the slightest clue who it could be. the outfit does still look very outworld-royalty, or maybe ninja-ish? but certainly not one of the plain human characters. i'm as mystified as you are

It'd be interesting if the "Traveler" guy turned out to be someone existing, or related to an existing prominent character. RN I'm more curious of what could be in the Krypt, and what it looks like. Although I could do without jump scares....... Some people have arachnophobia, some, like me, are easily startled.... it sucks!

out of all the things i've heard, i've been unable to verify whether or not the krypt has jumpscares, but with it being more of a game mode now (and in third person) i'm thinking that it's probably not going to be as bad in that regard (thank goodness for that, i hate them too!) no word yet on who the traveler is...
as for rain - we got more proof now than there was before. don't take it as confirmation, but don't give up hope. shinnok, however, is all but completely confirmed, so at least we're getting him for certain. rain is in the "likelier than not, but unproven" zone

Well, even if the Krypt has jump scares and the like, at least Boon deconfirmed quick time events in Story Mode 
Since Rain can't be DLC, the only fair thing would be if he was a super secret unlockable character. Rain and Fujin are the two characters that Ed & co. teased the most since the MKX days (or even before!) and it'd only be fair if they both were included somehow...
