The advent of biomass inundation that led to the mass abandonment of the deeper city levels has attracted certain peculiar folk to thrive in these depths. Most dominant of them all are the Carophage. These bipedal beings hover silently in the gloom and dark. One could recognize them by their rubbery worm-like heads that emit light from its orifice. They spend most of their time feeding on morsels of biomass that litter the streets and corridors, by means of multiple tentacle-like proboscis that comes out of their orifice. Their appetite for the biomass generated by the rituals of the Hierarchs is mutually beneficial as they help clean up the lower city levels albeit at a slower pace.
