Beyond the hierarchs, there are strange eldritch god-like beings that inhabit this forlorn world. They come in many shapes and forms for each of them hail from vastly bizarre realities and dimensions. They've always been around for as long as anyone can remember. They do not answer to anyone, nor are they part of the caste that governs all denizens of this world, including the hierarchs themselves. They are neither perceived as benevolent or otherwise, nor are they active participants in the affairs of this world. In fact, they are unaffected by the Cataclysm. They are a paracausal anomaly. If the timeless and primordial powers that govern the cosmos were sentient, then they are physical avatars of those powers.

There is a vast city in the northern realms... one that is devoid of inhabitants save for a being of Light that takes residence in a strange cyclopean fortress. Sometimes, the hierarchs perform pilgrimage to this place to commune with the being that resides within its monolithic walls. Unless one is anointed with the sigil of clarity, one ought to shield their eyes and should never gaze directly upon the light of the being's countenance. Death is not the worst thing that could result from its dreadfully warm and comforting rays.
