I smell bath water when I see this one. More specifically, I smell a brand locally called, "Algemarin", which smells something like seaweed at low tide by the ocean.
It is a testament to your skill that my first impression is of a smell, instead of a sight.
Lovely work, my friend. I have nothing to suggest for changes - only my impressions as they wash over me.
Best,
Russell

this looking great !
you have rendered her hair superb, like the manner in which you handled all the delicate strands, also her skin tones are spot on.
I always like images with a neutral background like this as it helps centralize the figure as the main subject and focal point.

Itβs a beautiful drawing with wonderful details. I like the composition with the space on the right that she is looking at.
The blue in the background enhances her skin tone by its contrast and brings out her blue eye color at the same time.
Very nice!

well thanks for saying so, my skind tone deffinatly something I've worked on heaps, I'm amazed I can get it out of pastels when you can't quite mix colours the way you do with oils

No problem. I guess you just have to know how to use the pastels softly and carefully. If you work with them enough you learn.

Not so bad...I'm making plans to get much much better at pastels, working bigger, using layers, that sort of thing. Getting bogged down on my current oil, I'm jsut not inspired with it..allthough its nearly done and looks good so I guess I'm just being stupid there...

Beautiful! I'm always afraid to spray fixitive on my pastel works, because kills the colors. Do you avoid doing this also or do you have certain technique?

I avoid spraying them because it kills the colours. If you want to work building up layers with your dark tones under you can spray them, but you if you use fixative at the end it all goes pear shaped. Just have to try and get them behind glasse asap.

Yeah, I'm just asking various pateslists this question. I thought maybe someone knows a way to preserve their pastel works without having that problem. All the answers have been the same. I don't know if you have heard this but Degas had a recipe for fixing his work without killing the colors, but it's been lost.

Nice work mate, I think your flesh tones are better in this one a little bit warmer perhaps.
