Description Michelle is my former lover and great friend, who has recently left country for good to return to her native lands.
I painted this for her as a gift and a thank you for sticking by me and being a very helpful human, even after we broke up.
She was with me when I met Karen, and she's been a big part of my life.

Miss you Michelle

Well thank you, I guess I do take a certain pride in what I have done, I have to admitt I tend to look more towards what I want to be able to do in the future though.

I still have this painting, really enjoy it on the wall

So very beautiful, I wish I could do something like this, words could probably describe it, but my vocabulary is lacking right now.

This peice is a great example of one of the things I find very charming about your paintings: I like how the background has rough brushstrokes in it. This gives a lovely texture, and great contrast between the smooth shading on her skin.

I get very attached to paintings of people I care about, which is nearly all of them...I hate selling them

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lindsie87 In reply to Jumprabbit [2006-06-17 04:23:54 +0000 UTC]

That's beautiful! Does it ever seem like you ARE your paintings? Like they are a manifestations of you? That would be very interesting...like, your painting would be beyond indexical! Haha, sorry, got excited with my ideas there. I hate selling my work too, I mostly horde it in my basement like a squirrel. It's guarded with a fire-breathing dragon

Jumprabbit In reply to lindsie87 [2006-06-18 21:38:17 +0000 UTC]

I need a one of those, I've had trouble guarding them lately

There is a certain amount of the artist in any original painting, that why they can be so worth so much money. Who wouldn't want a bit of Da Vinci for exanple?

Mine are not quite to that level yet, need to invent so really cool stuff and get a good note book

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

lindsie87 In reply to Jumprabbit [2006-06-18 22:15:49 +0000 UTC]

haha, I'm sure you could borrow one from your imagination! It's not too hard, unless you need to sell them out of neccesity (for money, etc).

I think our good friend andy said it best with: (rough verbatim) They want to buy a slice of my ora!

Well, just invent a time machine, build yourself a paper press, make yourself a handmade notebook, and you'll be set! haha.

lindsie87 In reply to Jumprabbit [2006-06-18 22:10:49 +0000 UTC]

Haha! Well you can always borrow one from your imagination. It isn't that hard, unless it's neccesary for monetary reasons.

Yeah, I agree about the artist within painting. I think Andy warhol said it best when he said that (rough verbatim) "they all want a piece of my ora".

Haha, yeah, just invent the time machine, and hand make a paper press to make your own paper and notebook. You'll be set. And rich.

Jumprabbit In reply to lindsie87 [2006-06-20 00:56:20 +0000 UTC]

Yep, sounds liek a plan.

and yeah sadly the downside of being a professional artist is you do in fact have to sell paintigns for money

lindsie87 In reply to Jumprabbit [2006-06-20 14:09:24 +0000 UTC]

Haha.

Professional artist! Wow! That must be so fulfilling. I think i'll have to teach, which won't be so bad, because I like teaching, but still! Well, who knows, I may go pro one day I guess. haha.

As beautiful as your art is the story behind it. That's something that certainly sets you apart... in my mind. A lot of people just paint things that *look* cool. Your art is infused with something that is in a lot of other pieces literally but not figuratively - on no deeper or more ethereal level: humanity.

I am glad I found your gallery today; I will not be leaving it for quite some time.

I wish you could see the originals. SO much better...ahh well, thank you, hang out in my gallery anytime
