My Thylacine Day(Sept. 7) picture. It's "Benjamin" in her last few hours on this Earth. She, as I understand it, died in the cold because her keeper forgot to shut the door to her night/sleeping den.
I did my best to make her look like the real "Ben". She has such beauitful eye markings and a light colored bum! 
I wish it was darker inside the den box, but it's not. ;_;

I didn't know the "last" (I believe they're not really extinct, hence the quotes) one was a girl...
that really stinks that she died because the keeper left the door open though.
And the people back then were so blase' about it. "Hmm, that was the last one? Aww too bad it's died...oh well!" *headshake*

i love it. ya when i read how and why Benjamin died i got so mad. i mean how could they let the last one die in such a stupid way?! poor Ben...

Aw, this is really nice. I don't think most people think about our good ol' Tassie Tiger anymore...I think scientists down here in Aus are trying to get some DNA from the stuffed ones and trying to bring them back.
I didn't realise until about last year that our tigers were marsupials

I think you did a great job with it. When I read about the circumstances surrounding how she pretty much died of neglect becasue the zoo didn't want Alison Reid as a woman to run it, and how she said she could hear the animals crying as they died of exposure.

Woah, that's sad. I don't really trust zoos, the zoo here has two beautiful wolves in a tiny enclosure, with little shelter and not much food.
