In the 7zip file on this page, inside is an AWN theme "AWN-Lucido-LightandDark.tgz"
Right Click AWN, Go to Dock Preferences > Themes
Click "Install..."
Select the "AWN-Lucido-LightandDark.tgz" file
Select the theme and hit "Apply"
Then go to the Preferences page and change Style to Lucido
On the Applets page, where ever you place a separator is where the panel changes from light to dark. The applets I have (in order) are:
AWN Main Menu > File Browser Launcher > SlickSwitcher > Separator > Launcher/Taskmanager > Separator > Show Desktop > Terminal Applet > RSS > Expander > Zeitgiest Applet > Media Control > Weather > Cairo Clock > Digital Clock > Separator > Volume Control > Indicator Applet > Notification Area > Separator > Garbage > Quit/Log-out Applet
Right click Indicator Applet and select Preferences
Make number of rows = 1
and Enable icon applet mode
Right click Notification Area and select Preferences
Number of rows = 1
Extra Offset = 3
Icon Size = 75%
Background and Border color set custom completely transparent.
and that's it I think...

Nice theme; reminiscent of the Elementary GNOME desktop - clean, sleek, and usable.
Any idea where I could find that snazzy wallpaper?
