Well, if thats the case, VA is your place (as im sure you know). I love the abandoned things around here!

lol I grew up here in Virginia and I like it well enough. The only other place I've lived that I love more is Colorado - gorgeous out there.

Stockton (CA) wasn't bad but I missed thunder storms

I'm in Charlottesville currently

I know some people in Charlottesville

Twilights-Maiden In reply to jzcj5 [2008-08-31 18:24:16 +0000 UTC]

Wish I did.

I lived in Richmond before I moved to California and then when we moved back we moved here to Charlottesville, and being a stay at home mom is not conducive to meeting many new people.

I'll end my tedious ramblings now.

Haha... I have no suggestions on the friend front. I have issues and Im in a big ass school of people

Twilights-Maiden In reply to jzcj5 [2008-08-31 18:35:39 +0000 UTC]

I understand that.

I didn't readily make friends when I didn't have a little guy running around, that only compounds the issue...I have found that finding folks that don't annoy the crap out of me or bore me to tears takes a bit of time and I don't say that with any kind of air, it's just what I have found to be the case all of my life...not to mention there are very few who "get" me.

I love this one! This is the house that Stephen King built and Edgar Allan Poe haunts! You have a fantastic eye for photography and a gift for breathing life into inanimate objects. Bravo!

how do you take such vivid photos?! the details on this look so sharp it seems surreal. was the sky really that color? you're awesome.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jzcj5 In reply to mindlesskitten [2008-02-29 21:04:07 +0000 UTC]

It is done through a technique called HDR. The sky was sort of like that...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mindlesskitten In reply to jzcj5 [2008-03-01 05:36:59 +0000 UTC]

you kick ass at HDR then.

Dark..and beautiful at the same time.
You really did a marvelous job with the angle, and colouring. there's so much to look at. And you chose a fantastic site. It really gets the viewer into the picture. Thses kind of photo's start making a person think, and ask questions about the piece, which, in my mind, is what a photographer would want from the viewers.
Lovely, lovely job.

Thank you! I definitely want to convey some story and engage the viewer. Im so glad you were able to do that with this piece!

You're welcome.

And thanks, I stole it from a random avvy that I saw. I love it, but I'm trying to come up with something better.

I also like yours, it's great.
But don't worry, I won't steal it.

I love this old house, it reminds me of an abandoned house I used to go to and take pics. This is the same house where you shot Forgotten isn't it?

Actually, it is not. They are on the same street but not the same house Talk about a lucky "wrong turn"

Astrid109PA In reply to jzcj5 [2008-02-29 01:58:49 +0000 UTC]

I thought they were taken at the same place because you can see what looks like red paint on the porch on the right side of the pic.

I love the darkness of this piece. Your work is simply incredible. You have a great eye. If I were closer, I'd love to model at some places like these.

jzcj5 In reply to Binna06 [2008-02-28 14:23:43 +0000 UTC]

If you were closer, I would take you up on that I have little to no models out here. Virginia is a bit too up beat for darker art.

I have many ideas for models and such... I just need to find some Secondly, there is no way you will see me spending much time at locations like this. You all see the house, but I get to see everything else around the house.

Thank you! I like this one as well. It was just as creepy looking at it as you probably see through the picture.

I have not been on dA very long, as far as being a photographer goes, so I dont have that many watchers yet. Unless my initial post catches some eyes, generally this is actually pretty good as far as favorites go.

It looks like a very forbidding haunted house. The sky looks stormy like it's on the verge of raining. I'd be nervous to go in there. Great photo!

I was across the street... I think the neighbor's house was a bit scarier considering i was in the back woods of Virginia... I may get shot one day for these shots

Thank you! Im glad you like it. It was one of those shots I HAD to get when I drove by.

jumpingbean In reply to jzcj5 [2008-02-24 21:59:30 +0000 UTC]

LOL, wow, what were you doing in the back woods of Virginia? I'm glad you didn't get shot! I can see why you'd risk getting shot though if you got such great pictures out of it.

Did you take a picture of the neighbor's house? Now I'm curious to see how it's scarier. These creepy houses remind me of every scary movie I've ever watched.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jzcj5 In reply to jumpingbean [2008-02-24 22:15:46 +0000 UTC]

Its not the house that was scary, it was parking on their property that was the scary part I think they were home and nobody looks at someone taking pictures and thinks "he must be an art photographer"

jumpingbean In reply to jzcj5 [2008-02-25 00:52:43 +0000 UTC]
