Because of reasons. Important reasons. if you must know, it's an early valentine's day gift for *1wordinsane , not that it should be all that hard to tell

Anywho. From an art perspective, one main goal: fit large-size-discrepancy characters into the icons in a way that they could exist on their own just fine. Honestly, I really rather hate those icons that are like, two parts of one picture. They make no sense to me. I mean, I get it, it's cute, but your icon should be able to stand on its own, too. My corollary goal was to make it so that it was cute with either icon coming first, and it didn't have to be in a particular order to see how they matched up.

The text was rather difficult. I must confess I do not like e's and s's. They are so very refractory. Not fitting easily into the pattern all the other letters can.

As for the pixel work, the actual doing of the art: Man, I forget how fun pixels can be! Just a smidge there and suddenly everything's better, or worse-- but if I keep at it it'll be better. So I like that part. I never quite got the hang of outlining in color so great, so I'm not entirely satisfied with the outlines, but overall I still like what I managed to make. Such tiny details! It took me quite a while to figure out how to portray Mantine's little wing-pattern-thingamajig. And I'm still not entirely satisfied.

Also, I cheated. Natu's about ... 1/3 to 2/3rds of that size, but it was too small for that to stand alone, soooo.

Yup. Icon-making is awesome. If anyone's interested, I wouldn't mind taking commissions for these. I'm too busy anyway. Why am I putting that out there? (but seriously, if you're interested, note me and we can haggle pricing~)
