Watched the Mowgli movie on netflix and the very next day my folks had the live action Jungle Book film on the tv. I felt like the universe was telling me to draw some fan art. So I drew the tiger that everyone is afraid of, the villainous Shere Khan!

It was very interesting mapping this out. I wanted him to look bulky but not cartoony/ anime big and I liked the scars on the live action face so he got those. It was going to be a human skull under his paw but my versions always look goofy so I substituted an antelope. I looked up references of snarling tigers and made sure to model his stripes on Bengal tigers which he is since he's from India. I really love how almost every version of him has all the animals get so scared and nervous around his presence. Everyone in the jungle knows Shere Khan is serious trouble.

I narrowed his eyes to make sure he looked pissed and used dry earthy colors to make the jungle seem less lush and more dried and withered, to emulate Shere Khan burning himself up with hatred and anger towards a harmless man cub. He was a lot of fun to draw!
