Description Part of a set of Xmas tree/rear-view mirror ornaments (Super Mushroom can be seen here [link] ) and belonging to a series of Nintendo-themed sculptures recreated in a more realistic manner, which started with the Realistic Piranha Plant (seen here: [link] ) and its baby, and ending with a Baby Metroid in formaldehyde, which will be available in a few months.

It is a blue shell, as seen (and feared/craved depending on your position) in Mario Kart. I used clay and acrylics and the final piece is slightly over an inch in size, not counting wingspan.

Thank you so much! It will be a while before I show them all, but there are several pieces from different games from the last 30 years.

Again, thanks, and if anything, I would suggest two of my rules:

1. Be patient. Don't be afraid to take on enormous projects and don't be afraid to keep adding detail to a piece. Sure, it looks good... but can it look better?

2. Never settle with a self-established opinion of what you are capable of. Try harder than your last time. Make every new piece you work on teach you a new lesson. When you step back, if you think it looks good, don't think you know the best you can do. Have faith in yourself in that there are more layers to your talent if you just keep digging and working at it. You'll know when it's done when you feel you have mastered something new.

Mario Kart 64 was the only game (dunno about Super circuit for GBA) where the Blue Shell did not have wings. In all installments in the series after that game, it got wings.

And btw, Mario Kart 64 for N64 isn't the first Mario Kart (it's the 2nd). The first one was Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo.

Actually, the first one was on SNES but I still like (and hate if I'm in 1st place) the Wii's version of the Blue Shell better. Adding the wings makes it stand out rather than look like a cheap color swap of a regular shell.
