For my painting studio class, we did an assignment on the idea of "Visual Bullshit" (haha I love this class). i decided to play on the idea of misrepresentation and play with the viewer's reaction.

Is the girl holding a stuffed "bear" or a "stuffed bear"? Hmmm. Everyone in my class gets creeped out by the thought that the girl sewed a dead bear head to her teddy or something ;D
I went with one of those types of backgrounds that very formally-posed photo portraits use, such as in yearbooks, etc., to give the painting a subtly unnatural vibe. Basically, I wanted everything to seem familiar and have the viewer initially dismiss the painting as just another romantic portrait painting...only then realize that nothing's quite right. I hope I succeeded with that at least somewhat!

My first time using oils in about two years, so that was interesting and quite fun. I have so much more to learn though x_x. Hope the critique goes well...
