Description Four songbirds (a cardinal, a sparrow, a chickadee, and a robin), singing on a branch. For, to them, nothing is more fun than caroling with your best friends .

Happy Holidays Everyone! (a bit late, I know...but better late than never, right? )

I did this to see what I could do with birds in my own style without looking at any references. I also felt like testing out my brown micron n_n. It turned out so-so. The purple wash in the background was a mistake, I feel. Ah well. Still cute, right? I wanted the picture to be warm and soft...did it work at all? And, yes, I know that it's physically impossible for birds to close their eyes like that. x3 But this is cuter than having that hideous membrane going over it, right? x33

The colors were destroyed by my scanner UGH XD;.
Time spent: about 5 hrs? over about 3-4 days. quick little 9x12 painting
Tools used: microns and watercolors
No references used

Absolutely beautiful. There's a lovely warmth just radiating from the picture. The textures of the birds' feathers and the scarves are superb. You have an incredible talent with watercolours! The best part of this piece is the pure elation you can feel in the birds' faces, particularly the sparrow. ^^ Well done, this is excellent!

D'aww... this is adorable, Kalico. I love the expressions on all of the bird faces, even if it is anatomically impossible. I think my favorite bird is the chickadee because of its bright eye and how you did the feet. I don't know if the picture looks warm and cozy, but it definitley has a friendly feeling and is really cute overall. Lovely work!
