Ok, total tone shift, I know. Talk of blood and war turns to talk of... well, pledges.
Duo's severely arched neck in the top panel is a throwback to this: [link] her original incarnation. Her build has changed a lot from that, but she can still do the swan-neck thing. Heavens, she's born from a mortal mare and a demigod fire spirit thing. She gets some liberties with anatomy.
Recut the last page a bit to match this one better. I like the more transparent word bubbles better too. I'm actually OK with this page, mostly. If you can't figure out why Equal suddenly vanished stage right, well, you'll know why in about eleven months. Yes, this is plot relevant. Soul's gotta come from somewhere.

I noticed in a few pages the backgrounds appear to be photos...and it still looks like a photo in the background behind the trees, am I correct?

Yep. I take all my own photo backgrounds. Some are filtered, some aren't. I'm still learning the whole background drill. I don't upload them, so no links to stock.
And yes, Duo's a mare. She's intentionally written as the aggressive, dominant horse compared to her warriors and to Equal, who is more passive and dislikes violence. This is highlighted in the next few pages (if I ever sit down and get them done!)

lol... um, not really. This page is, because not everyone will catch the reference and hey, it is part of nature. A few future pages might have warnings for blood/gore graphic stuff: not violence, just the aftermath of usual predator/prey interaction.

I was present once when a friend of mine bred his quarter/TB cross mare with his Belgian stud. Since then all images of horse-breeding in my mind are a cross between a cat fight, three guys at a football match, and a funny background event. None of us could tell if they were going to kill each other, hang out and play, or finally get around to it. They did, eventually, abruptly, without any foreplay at all. Mare's ready when she's ready, that's all there was to it. That, and I didn't want to spend a few pages of dialog building up to something I couldn't show anyway.
