Thank you , this was also done with mixed media. I use Prismacolour pencils which are really vibrant. The only trouble with them is that they are soft and break constantly when I sharpen them, which is a real pain.

I would have never guessed it was originally watercolor. Very well blended.

Well, there is not much of the watercolour visible. I pretty well covered it up with coloured pencil.

Well, its just another little gem!
Playful, colourful and beautifully executed as usual.
Love the texture you get with these combinations of water colour and pencil. Its very touchable.
I like the Picasso quote you gave in one comment too. That inspires me. Keep working and the creativity and inspiration will hit fertile ground when it comes.

Great comment as always, Sue! I guess this one is a little bit like the fish picture I sent you. Funny how when-ever I work a painting to death (almost), everyone seems to like it.

Ha, Ha, that's one way of putting it! Thanks! I just have fun when I paint fish. Usually my imagination kicks in, and I just make things up as I go.
Not that much talent, really, just a life long passion for drawing and creating, and lots of practice...

Thank you! To me creativity is what it's all about. Every time I get an idea for a painting I do a small sketch of it, or write it in my notebook. So I'm never out of ideas.
I spent many years trying to discover the secret of creativity. (reading a lot about it from books)
My research has taught me a lot.
Meditation and inspirational music play their part. So does regular and daily drawing and playing with your paints, pencils and other tools. Creating mandalas is very good, too. It's good to try out different media, and experiment with new media and ideas. For instance, if you usually do watercolour, take a folk art or oil painting class. It's also important to have a non-judgemental attitude, and allow yourself to play. I often get good ideas for paintings first thing, after I wake up in the morning, or during a walk in nature. For me, inspiration is everywhere.
Inspiration comes, but it must find you working.

I agree wholeheartedly about creativity. In the area of colored pencil art, so many are working for realism. I think that it is great, however, sometimes the heart of the artist is lost in attempting to reproduce a reference photograph. I also believe that open mindedness, and the willingness to attempt different things, is what helps an artist to grow. Thanks so much for some very good insight. I am going to attempt a few different mediums and see where it takes me.

Realism isn't for everyone. I have a very good book called the Zen of Creative Painting. It talks about Creativity and different styles of art.
For instance if you love realism in art, you may not enjoy painting abstracts. Some artists prefer symbolic art or surrealism, or impressionist art. Try different mediums and styles to discover what suits your personality and what is your unique voice.
Over time, you will develop your own style. Paint what you like, rather than suit other poeple's taste
