You were lucky to get this photo, whenever I've tried taking photo's of butterflies in the past as soon as they sense a person's near them they're off.......even if I stand a distance away and zoom in

I took the pic at four o´clock in the afternoon. Too hot in Spain. Maybe she was tired because she didn´t move when I was near her but I tried to take a picture of another two and it was impossible. One of them was flying all the time. She only stopped for seconds and the other did what you said: When I approached she started to fly. It was a pity because she was black with a white circle in her wings. And there is another problem I don´t know to use my reflex camera. I have to shot in automatic. If I knew it I could take a pictures of them flying without blurring.

Nature that flies is a nightmare to photograph whatever type of camera you use lol, the only butterflies you see much of round here nowadays are Cabbage Whites which is a shame as we're losing so many of them it's unbelievable 😞

Yes, your are right. And if you are a big disaster with a camera like me it is a double nightmare. But I have a colleague who is photographer that yesterday told me a trick about how to do it. I´ll try it next time. Here we have a lot of butterflies, I think it´s because the sun but this has been the first time I made a picture of one of them and it was because she was quiet, motionless in a branch.

We used to have loads of different butterflies flying about but their natural habitats and foods are disappearing so we're losing them pretty fast 😕😞.......may need your colleagues help/advice on something lol

Thank´s God we have a lot of different butterflies still. Incredible coming from a country like Spain whose people is nothing worry about the environment.
My colleague gave me a very good advice. To put the camera in sport mode and to buy a more zoom lens. I have a reflex. But a very basic one: Cannon D1000. And it has a standard lens. (18/55 I think or something like that). I have to tell you that, among the photographers, my lens is called "paperweight" ha ha ha!!!

Era muy linda si. Y pude sacar la foto porque se estaba muy quieta. Lo intenté con otra blanca y con otra negra pero se movían más que molinillos. Fue imposible.
Gracias por el fav.
