"This is pretty nice for Hell"~Tomorrow, When The War Began by John Marsden
Originally a pen doodle I did during a lecture, and now coloured for photoshop class at TAFE.
The bridge is different from how its described but when I first read the book and Ellie described it as beautiful but made by the Hermit with the materials around him, I just couldnt get this image of a bridge made by a guy who worked on LOTR which I saw in the Special Features.
I am actually dizzy from colouring this damn thing. Everything is blurry and I cant focus on anything anymore, so for now its DONE, though I may update it later when I get my sight back!!!

I have another in the works atm, but annoyingly I broke the index finger on my drawing hand in 2 places a week ago (fail!!) so its kinda be put on hold for a bit

Indeed, and I feel it really wouldn't have been so hard for the movie to include the Hermit from Hell story. That's one of my biggest peeves with it, because it really wouldn't have been so hard to put it in. Not all of it, because they find the hut and everything in the first book. Just mention the legend and include the bridge.

I think the hut and the bridge would have been diffcult (expensive) seeing as they had not much money to make the movie. But to just have Ellie mention it would have been enough for me. That way its kind of like an in joke for those fans who have rea the books

Yeah, I hadn't considered budget. It sucks that a similar American movie would have probably had a much larger budget. But mentioning it would have worked just fine. Instead of saying "I wonder who else has been here?" (which implies it wasn't too hard to find, and the locals weren't of the opinion it was impossible) they could have said "It's amazing no human has ever been here", and also put in one reference to the Hermit legend before they went to Hell (maybe Fi is scared of his ghost haunting Hell, and everyone else chides her saying he doesn't exist).
