Description

[Shendran] or colloquial called [Shekk] are dog-like creatures of the [Darakay] home world. Their additional set of front legs allow them to perform tasks that would prove difficult for true quadrupeds. The toes of those paws are slightly prolonged which makes handling items easier. A Shekk's intelligence is comparable to the one of a chimpanzee or dolphin. They are quick learners, surprisingly skillful and smart fighters. Therefore, they are commonly trained to perform craftsmanship, to act as assistant or to guard a certain property or person. Shendran usually take part in the strongly hierarchical society of the Darakay. They share the rank of their master and belong to their clan.

Shekk are incapable of speaking the Darakay's language, however, they have developed their own, rather primitive sounds solely to interact with superior species. It is simply known as the Shekk Speech which consists of various throatal noises and snarls. They use it to state their wishes and intentions if necessary. Shekk Speech is understood by most of the Darakay and partly by other species that are in contact with those creatures. Interestingly the Shekk stay utterly silent when communicating with each other.

After a long time, I depicted a creature of my personal world again. The little trinket in the Shekk's hand belongs to Tamira and later to Lara, one of my (very human) main characters.
