Finished commission for =TheBugKing ! I really really enjoyed this piece, not just because of the more loose guidelines (artistic license yay), but because the concept was really cool to me and extremely fun to play with an work on. Because it was so fun, I found myself really going overboard with detail! I'm very happy with this!This will be available as a print shortly, and I will likely be making some other merchandise out of this sometime as well.
Done in Photoshop CS4 with a Wacom Intuos 3

Love their expressions and the detailing on their fur. Also really like how the tendrils mirror each other well, but manage to look very obviously different as air-y and liquid-y. Very cool!

Do you have any tips on how to do realistic fur in Photoshop? All those individual strands look like they took forever X___x

When you're painting fur, don't think about the little strands at first. Think about the direction it's flowing, and how short/long it is in any given place. Build it up in chunks before you think about the little hairs. Once you have the chunks where you want them, you can go in and highlight the little hairs, giving it a detailed yet overall well put together look!
