So I'm entering the contest at that involves redoing the very first deviation in your gallery. I'll upload the comparison image that I'll actually submit to them in a minute, but here's the full redo. For your amusement, here's the original:

Yeeeeeeeeah, that was even before photoshop - I used PhotoImpression, and really really really, that was not intended for digital painting. Jeeeeeez. There was no multiply setting for the lineart, so it was on low opacity. But either way, it was a concept for a reindeer that could really light the way for santa. xD Some sort of deep-sea anglerfish/reindeer cross. No stupid red noses for me, I'm a reindeer purist. >3>

So yah! Here we are in 2010. :3 I now know vaguely how to draw reindeer that don't look like stick insect/dragon/horse/generic deer crosses, and have concerned myself for some time with different antler types, so they no longer look like some sort of warped olympic torch. xDD I can tone a bit better, thank god, and I can STAY INSIDE THE FETHING LINES. Improved on the ol' lightsourcing and Making Things Look Like They Actually Glow, too. >3> Used a different shading technique for this, as well. x3 It's not perfect - reindeer muscles aren't my area of expertise - but I'm pretty pleased with it! And I...shall get to my inbox sharpish. o.o
