Cool capture! A mantis always looks exotic, but the glass introduces an almost surreal aspect into the scene!

By the way, I get up at 6:30 for my bus, so the trees in my neighbor look beautiful in the dawn light!

Oh, I have to.

Other wise, the bus leaves with out me. D:

I'm thinking tomorrow, I'll bring my camera and shoot off a few pictures on the way to school. I'm always first, so I have plenty of time for some squirrel shots/tree shots/light shots. The lighting is GREAT!

I've had many years of "having to" also - but now my daughter drives her self to school and I work from my home office so I don't "have to" so often

I look forward to seeing some of your morning squirrel shots Try to shoot sort of sideways on the light - shooting directly into it will overpower...

Thanks!

I have one of those more portable cameras, not as focused as my dad's HUGE black camera. It's a blue lumix something...

BUt yeah, it depends on whether or not the squirrels run away or not!

They might mostly be shots of trees and leaves, possibly birds or any interesting insects.

OK, anything you capture

probably not a good idea to take your dad's good camera to school...

yeah, it's too big to fit in my backpack. I had to sneak it in!

No good pictures today, I can't post any of them. I did see a new bird (never seen it before, kind like a small grey/blueish bird, not big enough to be a bluejay, but with a small cardinal-like crest. ???

kayaksailor In reply to Vmmc385 [2010-09-21 20:13:19 +0000 UTC]

don't know your eastern birds but it may have been a phoebe...ours out here have a small crest and their coloring is kind of dusty gray/blue [link]

Vmmc385 In reply to kayaksailor [2010-09-21 20:19:10 +0000 UTC]

Nope, but thanks! It was about the same size (fatter for winter I guess). They were actually gray/blue in color, and had a more triangular crest. SO WEIRD.

I know of a first hand account of a hummer flying off with one attached - saw that - and while he didn't see the mantis actually eat the hummer, I tend to think that it could be possible...pretty dang amazing!
