Description Recycled art project for school.

It's the Dawn Treader (as in the Narnian ship) made out of pages from my old Narnia books. It's just paper and Elmer's glue. The photo really doesn't allow you to see it's pure awesomeness but I'm still really happy about it.

I wouldn't dare to do that to a book. But I am glad you did. It looks really cool!

Just beautiful! (I came across this on a Pinterest repost) -- really gorgeous work. (As far as books: they can have many, many purposes. I see tons of books on the way to being disposed of for trash or recycling from a _lot_ of places. For those of us who 'repurpose' media -- linens, books, and other things that have intrinsic value in themselves, it's sometimes difficult to get into that sort of thinking. However, I see how much goes straight to the trash, it becomes a different thought process to think of how something can be turned into a new form of art.)

Amazing work! This really reminds me of Su Blackwell, she is an artist and illustrator that primarily uses paper craft in her work. Great work and keep it up .

Sweet! I think it must have been one of her photos that inspired me! I had imagined doing the scene of Lucy at Lantern Waste but my art teacher hated the idea. I was thinking in very 2-dimensional terms and how it would look good in a photograph but she wanted me to approach it like a sculpture. I suppose it worked out in the end--despite how much I had to alternate between coaxing and yelling at the paper. I definitely want to do some more book art in the future.

Sounds sweet . I know what you mean there, when you get good at something like this it is very hard to leave it alone, it is just one of those things you have to explore.

Let me know when you are doin another one of these as I would love to see it .

So, I'm going to attempt something like this in my art class. My teacher requested that I research about how to do it so we can be pretty sure about it. Do you have any info about it?

As a bibliophile I allways feel really sorry for all books that are "recycled".
But it`s a bit of confort when they are used to create art.
This work is really great. I think it`s still allowing the book to do what she was created for - to stimulate the imagination. It`s still telling a story and that`s what I love about this pice of art.
