Decided to draw me some fanfic art, because that fic is lovely and gives me all the best original-flavour AC feels, and because BAMF!Aziraphale is the most glorious thing ever, and because I just had to stop and sketch the scene suddenly and then before I knew it I was scanning it in and colouring stuff. Very, very different from my usual painting style, but I kind of like how it came out. Photoshop is wonderful for simply painting, just letting stuff surface from scratch.

(idk if I'll be listening to it because YEAH, I'm actually one of those people you mentioned - or more specifically, I feel weird about anything involving voices but not music, from audiobooks to radioplays to podfic, I think WTNV is my only exception to date. BUT, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate them as artistic creations in their own right anyway. ^^ )

Wow. This is really an absolutely amazing piece. I've never been able to picture what Death looks like in Good Omens before, but now, this is exactly what I think he/it'd look like. And the way it's all illuminated... Brilliant.

And then...there is Death. Or Azrael, whatever name is used. Translucent, like he's just arriving. He doesn't seem malicious, or mocking even. Just a force of nature, doing its job. Coming to collect another one whose time is due...except well, not this time.

I knew from the thumbnail which fanfiction this was an illustration for, and I whooped a bit inwardly from happiness that somebody else knows and loves this truly beautiful story and draws art for it!
I second your artist's comments 100%, especially the part about the original-flavour feels and BAMF!Aziraphale, and applaud this gorgeous, goregous piece of art! The lighting in particular is amazing.
The only thing I might nitpick is that Aziraphale looks a bit too young, but then again we never get a real description of him in the novel, so maybe it's just me imagining him as looking around 40-ish...? Also, why shouldn't he look younger in his BAMF!angel mode!

The fanfic line specifically said that he looked like the perfect vision of an angel in that scene, the light (which was admittedly supposed to be bluish, but whatever) "smoothing away the traces of stress and worry and too many rich desserts", or something like that. Plus, yeah, I was going for a more angelically ageless look.

Excellent luminescence on Aziraphale's wings, and the contrast between him and Death is what really nails the composition! I've read the story in question, too, and it's definitely on my very small list of favorites. And if you ever get the mad idea to base any art on any of my stories, you definitely need not ask. Lovely

I've realised since that I have, in fact, read A Crown of Stars, though it was some time ago and I definitely need to re-read it. I'm saving an archive trawl of your stuff for sometime after exams (that, or the immediate pre-exam procrastination, I guess), so who knows, maybe I will get the fancy to do something about them. ^^

(Crown of Stars 'Verse is my one big emotional second-Apocalypse AU, although I'd like to think my take on the trope isn't as severe as many out there, i.e. in-keeping with canon and has happy ending when all's said and done! But Crown of Thorns 'Verse is my real labor of love these days, and I think my best GO writing is there, at least from a personal-critique perspective.)
Well, my favorites are very easy to sum up: anything by argyleheir, almost anything by louiselux, a few things by daegaer, one pretty excellent piece by amberdiceless, one lovely remix piece by cimness, and one very obscure little treasure by prestissima. If you'd like links to add to the pile of all of mine once you're out of exams hell, I'll be glad to hunt them all down and PM them to you.
