You know what confuses me, about Redwall, are the seasons. Are they their version of years or are they the whole 3 months each, like in reality? If that's the case then Mattimeo would have been 2 years old when Slagar kidnapped him.

Real life animals live much shorter lives than humans do. Obviously that was Jacques' way of integrating that detail into his books.

So 8 seasons passed, so he'd be 8, so does that mean in the First Season Matthias is 13 seasons old instead of 13 years old?

Heh, yeah. It's interesting why they did that changed from years to seasons.
1st Season Matthias was 13, during the 2nd Season, he would been 21, and 3rd Season possibly late 30s to early 40s (Prologue and Epilogue)
Mattimeo:
1st Season - 4, 2nd Season - 8, 3rd Season - 19-21

I had a theory that These animals in the series were descendants from the Nimh Rodents who were half human, but that doesn't cover all the other species besides Rats and Mice. I literally hurt my brain thinking about that.

Wait, you mean this takes place during the human Middle ages from 476 to 1348? I thought that these intelligent animals in this series were going through an era of Medieval stagnation and that humans all killed each other or something.

Possibly, Brian Jacques never really specified when his series took place.

Speaking of which, I believe it was Methuselah who said that "Martin does bear an uncanny remsemblance" to Matthias in "Treachery", so that would be maybe why.
