Although YuXuan is a fire bender, he knows much about earth bending (according to his family). He was successful in applying an earth bending method into fire bending and becoming the first person who can accurately representationalize and maintain fire into certain shapes, like earth bending. He also made himself a fire arm which is no different from a real one as long as it is tied with a bandage after he lost his own one.

Being a pastor, YuXuan not only provides spiritual help, he also practices physical treatment with fire bending. Like manipulating extremely thin fire needles to hit certain part inside the human body, or making a very quick and even burn to cauterize large-area bleeding immediately.

YuXuan. NaLan was born in an earth bending officer family, which served the earth kingdom royalty as an imperial bodyguard for century. Yu Xuan was raised up as an earth bender. He was taught everything about earth bending, even though he was never able to bend so much as a pebble. But at the age of 16, he found his fire...

YuXuan’s father was unspeakably furious when he finally found his son, who was supposed to be a pure earth bender, was actually a fire bender, he considered him as the greatest shame of the family, and his honor could be restored only by death. YuXuan escaped before his father crushed his body, but he lost his right arm in the struggle.

When YuXuan left Ba Sing Se, the city he had lived in for all his life, he was so hopelessly depressed. He considered fire bending as the root of his misfortune. While angry, he finds fire to be the only release for his rage and torment.

The last thing he burned down was pastor Kim’s house, but Kim didn’t blamed him, to the contrary, he comforted the pool soul with Gospel and faith. In God's love, YuXuan was able to restore his heart, and realized he still owned many things in his life. When he prayed, God opened another door for him: YuXuan created a brand new way to bend fire through his rich earth bending knowledge. He found he could control the shape and temperature of fire precisely and applied it into medicinal purposes, saving countless lives. He also made for himself a fully functional arm of flame.

YuXuan became a pastor himself afterwards. He’s on a missionary trip right now in republic city, a place that lost it's heart and soul after Avatar Aang died. The bender issue is pushing the city into chaos. He knows clearly that his destiny is to save people who have been hurt or twisted by the power of bending. A beautiful girl by the name of Mo Yan was one of those he saved.
