SO UHM my desktop comp screen colors are different than my usual ones so shading before looked darker than it actually was aha;;; SO i fixed my screen and tried again. But...if it is still not dark enough...

Wood Carving: More of a hobby, Jian likes to pass the time carving intricate patterns or details figurines out of wood. Something he learned from his uncle who made a living out of it.
Aikido: His mother used this fighting style during her days of being a kyoshi warrior, and consequently taught her son. It's quicker for him to immobilize or down an opponent this way than the usual earth bender style.
Pai Sho His father taught him how to play at a young age with hopes of teaching him strategy and patience, things he would need as he saw his son being a metalbending police like himself in the future. Enjoys the game and is quite good at it.

Jian blinked as a petal spiraled down from the tree and reached out absently to catch it from his seat on the ground. The cherry blossom tree in their yard was his favorite place, reminding him of memories long gone. He released the petal and watched it flutter away into the air before picking up the small wooden figurine he was working on; a polar bear dog from the water tribes as a present for his younger sister Shion. He carefully guided the knife over the wood, going off of memories of pictures as best he could, inputting every detail possible. "Ji-Ji!" came a voice as a young girl came running into sight. His lip twitched at the nickname but he didn't look up. As expected, he felt her jump on his back and lean over. "Is that a polar bear dog?" she asked in awe, reaching out to feel the nearly finished product. "No, it's a flying bison," he said drily as Shion looked at him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion before he gave her a slight smirk, hinting at his joke. "Ji-Ji!" she laughed, hugging his neck. He reached up to poke her forehead lightly. "Come on, let's check on mother," he said, standing up and brushing the wood shavings off of his clothes. He led her into the home and towards a dimly lit room.

A woman lay in bed with her eyes closed, breathing softly. He entered quietly and fixed her blanket, at which point she stirred awake. "Jian, Shion," she whispered, a warm smile spreading across her face. Jian felt her forehead and gave her water. "I'm leaving for work now mother," he said softly. She reached up to touch his cheek briefly with eyes full of love. "All right, be careful," she said. "How do you feel mommy?" Shion asked, popping out from behind Jian. She chuckled. "A bit better Shion. How about tonight--" she was interrupted as she broke out in a coughing fit, Jian's eyebrows furrowing in concern. "--tonight I read you a story?" Jian decided to slip out of the room as they continued to talk. As he was about to leave the house, he heard someone call his name. "Ji-Ji?" Shion stopped a few feet away from him, eyes downcast. "Will mommy ever get better? She's always really sick, and daddy's never home" she said, lip quivering a little. Jian blinked and moved forward, ruffling her hair lightly. "Don't worry about it Shion," he said, flashing a rare smile before stepping out the door.

-Yes, he's an earthbender. I just thought that skills were other things besides the element of bending since the designated app kinda says it all /papcry
-Doesn't really smile; either expressionless or an amused/cocky smirk (but when he does, it's beatific)
-Learned wood carving from his uncle in Republic City and often gives away small figurines to Shion and her friends
-Mother was a kyoshi warrior and came from a rich family, hence Jian being pretty well off in terms of living; she and her daughter Shion are fire benders
-Father is a high ranking metalbending officer in the Police Force, who expects his son to follow in his footsteps
-Tends to be a bit less of a smart-ass to women, due to his mother being in a sickly state. Just a bit.
-Is a carpenter's apprentice, after an old carving master saw his little figurines from his granddaughter given to her by Jian and offered him a job
-Reads a lot to give him ideas while carving
-Scar on his right cheek from an accident while earthbending
-Call him 'Ji-Ji' and you will die. Well, okay. Maybe he'll just flip a mountain on you
