In my attempt to join, #RepublicCity , here is my OC. Derp.

Cooking: Working in a small Tea shop, he's adept at making basic broths, soups, steamed buns, and several teas. He's very familiar with the tea ceremony, and holds it in high regard as one of the most important pieces of society that must be preserved.

Haggling: Growing up, and living in the marketplace, he learned from his parents, who learned from their parents, to never just take an offered price. Always aim for something better. This is also certainly applied to every other aspect in his life. Haggling from meager prices on a vegetable, to how many secrets he can coax out of you, in return for meager information. He will always settle for the lowest price, or the most items he can get for what he's willing to give.

Penny Pinching: Along with growing up in the marketplace, he grew up poor. Every small coin had to be saved for food. If your clothes had a hole in them, you found an old sock, and patched it up. Luxury items were not common in his youth. Now that he is older, and is working, he saves for finer things, and still makes sure he never wastes a cent on anything too frivolous, or unneeded.

Personality:
Hui Ying is a dependable, intelligent, and hard working young man. He believes all things are gained through your own effort and no one else. A traditionalist at heart, steeping himself deeply into the historical cultures of his families ancestry, he has many relics from the Earth Kingdom in his home, and saves up every chance he can to someday visit there. But despite all these, he also tends to be extremely stingy, distrusting, harsh, and almost overly critical of others. He does not like that the world is changing, and hates the fast paced city streets outside the shop he works in. Hui Ying has a sharp temper, and it can erupt with the right words. He expects high things of himself, and as such, demands it of others around him, almost giving him an aloof, rough nature.

Though once you've earned his respect, Hui Ying will be a steadfast, and loyal companion, coming to your aid should you ever need it, and will be your strongest supporter and defender.

RP sample:
Perfect. The tea was perfect. The small pillow he sat upon, was fluffed to perfection. He felt his tense shoulders ease, and his green eyes close, while he took in a deep, hearty breath. The smell of jasmine and spice filled the air, and his lips curled slowly, reaching his fingers out touch the smooth clay pot. Eyes opened, and he looked down, relaxing as he poured his drink, watching it fill up, and pour over the edges slightly, into the saucer just beneath it, adding a smooth shine too the outer layer of clay, setting the pot down, and tenderly picking the cup up, ignoring the overly warm surface in favor of breathing in. Ah, del--

CRASH.

The sudden, and loud sound startled the Republic native enough that he cracked an eye open, and felt his smile quicky turn upside down, and he set his cup down gently. Far too many cups had been lost to his temper before, and he had learned quickly to be gentle with them. Pushing to his feet, the Earth bender stormed to his window and shoved his head out, looking down one floor, to a foolish boy on a bike had crashed into a poor vendor carrying boxes of... oh no... tea cups. The poor, shattered things were across the ground, glistening like soft green dew drops on the paved walkway.

Hui Ying just felt sick in the stomach at the sight.
