Name: Joule (pronoucned Jewel)

Gender: Female
Height: 5'3" (without her boots, she's actually 5'2")
Personality: A shy, kind, if not naive young woman, Joule is one to always try her best in order to help someone. She is however, a bit hesitant in engaging with other people, due to being mute, as well as being sensitive to insults or complaints about her, no matter how indirect. She enjoys having fun and is highly curious about new things, especially those regarding machinery or technology as she always loved to tinker with machines or designs. Joule also has a habit using her hands to talk or express her emotions, sometimes leading to an interesting game of charades should the person not understand sign language.
Timezone: 3141
Location: An alternate universe in which steam power took the place of electricity, set somewhere in the future during a technological/industrial boom in the Kalos region. It is to note that age as a number is non existant, nor is it paid attention too much so individuals don't celebrate birthdays.
Brief History: Born in a world where steam power became successful and advanced into the future rather than electricity, Joule has always had an interest in what inventions would come next. She comes from a family of engineers, and those interested in improving current steam powered machines to better the already advanced region of Kalos. This came to light especially with the steam industrialization era that had recently started, during which Joule was able to find a master to apprentice under when she was young. Being born without the ability to speak, she had always thought it would be impossible if not highly unlikely to become an apprentice. But a grizzled old man who seemed to have a permanent scowl on his face was the one who didn't turn her request away, merely stating that he wouldn't cut her any slack just because of that. Her master had actually spearheaded, designed if not co-designed many of the leading steam powered machines existing in current society, but due to his strict and unfavorable nature, rarely had apprentices, if not declining their requests. In all honesty, he probably accepted Joule partly because the challenge of having a mute apprentice, but mostly because of that glint in Joule's eyes when she would look at machines or designs, even if she didn't know their purpose nor how they worked. He admired that since she couldn't always ask questions, she attempted to figure out how they worked on her own, which was an important trademark for inventors.
She spent most of her life living with her master, as was custom for apprentices to do so, learning the trade, how to build things, design things so they'd fit, and much more. However, one day she was in the workshop alone when a weird light flooded the room and felt herself getting pulled into it before passing out...
POKEMON
Name: Gineen "Ginny" (pronounced Jin-een)
Gender: Female
Species: Noivern
Moveset: Flamethrower - Boomburst - Dark Pulse - Solar Beam
Ability: Infiltrator
Personality: Despite her default angry expression, Gineei is actually really affectionate and kind-hearted, much like her trainer. She prefers peace and everyone getting along, and often acts as a responsible guide and best friend to Joule, keeping her from dangerous situations, or putting on a mean face to scare away people that bother Joule.
Brief History: Gineei is a larger than average noivern, with a height double that of a normal noivern. She met Joule as a noibat when Joule herself was quite young and had recently been taken as an apprentice. Upon being sent to inspect some of the machines to see what was wrong, she found a larger than average noibat attacking some gears after being startled and injured upon the machine being started up and being blasted with steam. Joule managed to calm her down, fed her, and defended Gineei when her master had told her to get her out of the workshop without treating her injuries. Gineei herself was curious as to why Joule couldn't speak, but grew to understand her various hand motions and gestures, and was grateful for Joule's kindness.
Name: Tesam "Tes"
Gender: Genderless (gravitates more towards female but remains largely genderless)
Species: Staryu
Moveset: Hydro Pump - Ice Beam - Psychic - Dazzling Gleam
Ability: Analytic
Personality: Tes is pretty calm and reserved, acting as the strict motherly figure of the team, keeping everyone in line, making sure no one over works themselves past exhaustion etc. It also does have a hidden temper, and is not afraid to psychic anyone out of the room or into their proper place. Tes also is a bit sensitive when looked down upon due to its' size, but takes great pride in everything else about itself.
Brief History: Met Joule after she was taken on a fishing expedition to find a water-based pokemon to help produce steam for the various inventions in her master's workshop. Joule was very ecstatic to have caught a water pokemon on her rod, but Tes ended up pulling her into the water. Unfortunately, her rod had also attracted a Sharpedo, as it started moving towards her. Unable to cry out for help she started to drown. Not one to let someone get injured, Tes ended up saving Joule by ramming the Sharpedo away and taking her to shore. Joule would continue to come to that same spot with her rod in hopes of catching Tes again, even when she caught a cold. That caught Tes' attention, using psychic to physically move the girl to find help. Eventually, Tes decided Joule was unable to take care of herself properly and decided to stick with her for that purpose.
Name: Perow
Gender: Genderless (gravitates more towards male but remains largely genderless)
Species: Metang
Moveset: Psychic - Meteor Mash - Earthquake - Shadow Ball
Ability: Clear Body
Personality: Incredibly smart and highly curious, Perow is an extremely loyal pokemon, always at Joule's side when she needs it, and often acts as a sort of butler. It likes to tinker with machines, despite encountering difficulties with its' "fingers" during which Joule would cheerfully help it out, and only resorts to using psychic when it can't do it or to assist Joule in things. It is also pretty humble, and highly respects anyone Joule respects.
Brief History: The upcoming power house of the team, Perow met Joule as a Beldum, one of the many that tend to drift around in various places that have machinery. They literally collided with each other after Joule had gotten lost in the region Perow was wandering around in and helped guide her out to safety. It ended up following Joule home out of curiosity, and stayed upon discovering that they shared common interests in machinery.
BACK HOME
Name: Grae (pronounced Gray)
Gender: Male
Species: Tyrunt (baby)
Joule had found a Jaw Fossil while exploring some older, abandoned areas, in which erosion had brought it to the surface. In her time era, it currently took anywhere from a month to a year to revive any type of fossil, in which that is exactly what she did. Upon seeing this, her master made it their next project to decrease that time by inventing a new way to improve the current machine used. This was the thing Joule had been thinking about right before she got pulled out of her timezone. It is currently unknown whether or not Grae also made the jump, as he was a bit further away. [AKA may or may not be a future pokemon]
OTHER
- Joule's name is taken from the unit of measurement used for energy
- All of the names of her pokemon are word jumbles of actual words (i.e. Tesam = Steam, Perow = Power, Gineen = Engine, Grae = Gear)
- The lights on Joule's helmet use a similar liquid used in modern mood rings that change according to her emotions (or rather the temperature change that comes from certain emotions)
- Her helmet also has several lenses she can move into place to change focus, zoom, etc.
- She's mute, so communicates through sign/body language, or Tesam or Perow uses psychic to read her mind and convey her thoughts
- The helmet itself was designed by her master in order to make working around steam and machines easier to manage without fear of things hitting her eyes or any noxious fumes that may appear. The mouth area can also retract into the helmet, leaving the lower half of her face exposed.
- Oh, she's easily flustered as well and will deny it despite her body language and her helmet pointing it out
- Joule also carries a grappling gun of sorts that she helped to co-design with a fellow inventor, unique from other current ones
- For battles, Perow or Tes will mentally project her commands onto the battlefield, so even though she doesn't physically have a voice, she does have a mental one. As for Gineei, if Perow or Tes aren't present, Joule does have a system using various sounds made with the hand to direct her, i.e. making a fist with one hand and hitting it (on its' side) onto her other hand which is flat twice for Boom Burst, etc.
- She's actually really rich in her time era, her family being really well off but chooses not to rely on money and lives an average life
I'll probably shade Joule's full-body/add emotions and stuff later if not in a separate doodle dump omg college why.
UPDATE: Included the mentioning of Grae to put more of what Joule was doing/the time she's in is like, and also potentially be a future pokemon gained when the opportunity arises.
