Status // 1st year Hero Course student at U.A High School ━ Class 1-A
Quirk: Steam Engine // Shirabe's body generates steam from external sources of water and atmospheric moisture. She is able to channel and pressurize this steam, and utilize it in a variety of ways.
Shirabe is a Hero Course student from Iwate Prefecture. Her parents run a traditional onsen; Shirabe is the second of three children. She lives with her older brother at the beginning of the school year, but their relationship is strained due to years of emotional abuse from their family, and it comes as a relief when Shirabe moves into the Yuuei dorms along with the rest of her classmates.
Shirabe has two sides to her: on one hand, she is a shy, soft-spoken, unassuming girl who goes to some lengths to avoid taking up space and asking for things to benefit herself. She has a particular horror of seeming selfish; this was her parents’ regular criticism of her, although she is coming to realise that the things they called her selfish for seeking were in reality basic emotional needs common to every child. On the other hand, she has a steely sense of justice, and will go to war for others at the drop of a hat. Despite her anxiety and lack of self-advocacy, she does not hesitate to lend a hand to people in need of help, nor to defend a victim from attack.
