I know what you mean. Going from Firefly to Octane is like a motorcycle to a fully loaded 18-wheeler. And in the next 2 months Octane2 is coming out, so my wallet already feels rather lighter.... 3D is such an expensive medium! >___<

It does not help that the software companies offer new packages very often,
forcing you to upgrade or be left behind.
