Nephthys
Youngest child of Nut and Geb, Goddess of Rivers, Homes, the Night and Mourning.
If every family has a member who just melts into the background, here it's Nephthys. Throughout her life, she had been a soft-spoken, timid individual who preferred to stay in the back at all times. This was strengthened further by her sister, Isis, with her royal leader-type behavior that demanded attention. Still, for some reason Nephthys had been noticed by no other than Seth himself, who was drawn to her silence, kindness, peaceful and understanding nature. They seemed to fit together just right: Seth was loud and obvious enough for the both of them, and Nephthys was the silent support and the unwavering base her husband could fall back onto when he was losing his grip.
Isis' treachery had been a (mostly catastrophic) turning point in the lives of quite a few gods, and Seth and Nephthys were no exceptions. Nephthys, already far along her pregnancy by then, was determined to see them through this storm, and she tried her damnest to calm her raging and desperate husband down. Seth however lost all reason, his emotions too wild for the goddess to bridle like before. Seeing her utter failure in this, something snapped in Nephthys and she fled from Seth, gave birth to Anubis in secret, gave him away to Isis and Osiris, then set out into the wide world, seemingly with no rhyme or reason.
She would return, eventually, as a completely changed goddess, and would aid her sister in the gathering of Osiris' parts, but never again would she settle down and stay put. Even to this day she tends to leave on journeys leading to faraway lands completely on her own, without even telling to anyone.
Nephthys hadn't really been a popular goddess in the pantheon. She was always silent, always shy, and completely baffled by Seth's constant attention. She had been kind to all of her siblings always, and often were the force that somehow maintained some resemblance of peace between Isis and Seth. After her strange and unexplainable decision and disappearance, Nephthys returned as a goddess far more confident, determined and overall louder. She no longer shies away from conflicts and had learnt to use her powers rather offensively on her journey. Still, she became a vagabond, an almost weirdo, whose interesting and absolutely foreign world views and foreign... pretty much everything... don't earn her that many friends either.
She has yet to straighten things with her husband and child, as well.

Nephthys is a prime example of why I am making these full designs so early in development. Originally, I had little idea about her role, but as I've begun sketching her down, all that you've read up there came to me along the way. While she still has a looonngg way to go in development, and her design may change greatly, I am very content with what I've managed to pin down about her so far.
Her animal form had originally been a falcon, however, during my research about her, I've stumbled upon a source that claimed she was sometimes seen as a vulture, and I latched onto this fact quickly. We have more than enough falcons already, and I've wanted something different. Thus, her form became an Egyptian vulture.
