Lui the dragon. Made him in a pottery class I'm taking this semester. Not having worked with clay before, I wanted to work with something familiar so I made a dragon. It was actually supposed to be a self-portrait, but I figured it's art, so I can tack on some meaning to it later. Who wants to miss out on a opportunity for a dragon anyway?
I had a fun time just pitching ideas to people while I worked. Here's what I came up with (shortened version) if anyone is intersted, I made my older sister face-palm and tell me I'm an idiot, so I think I nailed it:

Well, first of all, I am not the dragon. That would be rather pompous of me. Rather I am the vase that it is squeezing/supporting. The dragon is an iconic beast that can represent good or evil depending on what culture you pull it from (the grey color also highlights this as well as by being neither black or white). In my own assessment of what contributes to who I am is a mix of good and bad things. The dragon can also represent imagination as well. To back-track, the portrait was required to have a lid, so I made a white-ish ball to put on top (picture on bottom right). As you can see, the vase (symbolizing myself) with the ball on top makes an "i" shape. The vase is an i. I am the vase.

At the end of the presentation I should have ended with a verbal "ba dum tsh" because I only got one "oooooh" with that conclusion. I'll take it though. My job is done.
