Description I bought a new sketchbook while I was traipsing around new england and started jotting down ideas for things to make. Top left would be a pair of earrings, bottom right is a hinged bracelet, the rest are pendants. Material is up in the air at the moment depending on whether or not my new boss would want any of these out of gold, but all of them are more than plausible to make out of silver.

Poll from the audience.... Are any of these things appealing to you as a buyer? One of the things that Mike keeps pushing on me is the ability for something to sell. He has concern that my bird designs aren't "sellable"... So I'm trying some other ideas that don't have much bird involvement. What do you all think?

Well, since I'm a dumbass... D:

Are you considering maybe doing these as commissions? I'd really, really be interested in a piece depicting a wolf in a -similar- manner to the fox one shown here.

I absolutely adore the cat pendant and the fox pendant. They are both things that I would buy for myself if i could afford it, Or ask someone else to buy it for me as a gift if i couldn't!

Not for myself, but I think the cat and wolf themes are great and appeal to a ton of people, but pendants are rather overplayed. Would there be a way to convert those designs to the hinged bracelets (or something similar)? Those are more unique and are SO pretty.

The bracelets are really cool, I agree, but they take a ton of work to do... The pendants are a good way for me to get my "flavor" out in the open so to speak, and within reasonable time. At the moment I am not entirely sure if my new workplace even has all the tools I would need to reproduce the same kind of bracelet that was the large cuff I did for the bfa exhibition, even. The bracelet design at the bottom is something more feasible because I wouldn't need a complex curve, but keeping the size of the links manageable for that purpose means that the pictures within them are limited in terms of what I can fit in there. But also, the work that went into the cuff bracelet was ...an astronomical number of hours, lol. Knowing what I know now about its construction I could probably duplicate it quicker, but in the time it would take me to make another one of those I could probably have made 10 pendants/pairs of earrings.... On top of that, I'm seeing these designs as being translatable into golds and other precious materials. The bracelets use a LOT of material... and I have looked everywhere for thick wall tubing in gold, it just doesn't exist, I would have to make my own tubing. And wire. Making tubing sucks. LOL

Oh I fully understand! Those are all pretty serious issues. The pendants are really pretty still, and I think people would buy them.

Hmm, maybe a necklace of a different style? Rather than a pendant on a cord or chain, it could be a rounded panel that has a chain in back--and maybe slightly articulated in the middle, though it wouldn't have to be. Here's an example of what I'm talking about, only this is leather: [link]

It would be larger and more expensive to make than a pendant, but it has tons of character, and I don't think it would require quite as much effort and difficulty as a bracelet, since you wouldn't HAVE to make it articulated. You could have stuff dangling down off it, too!
