Some art of Abiatha Swelter, the homicidal head chef of castle Gormenghast, from this BADASS books series by Mervyn Peake that got me into with HIS awesome fanart of the many twisted characters lurking behin devery book page.My favorite is this guy. thought it would be cool if I drew Swelter, so I did. X3 And in record time! This is what happens when I know JUST what I'mma draw.
But I still have a wicked crush on Flannelcat, the clumsy professor of the series. <3

Oh yes, I love Gormenghast.. Very muchly. I got into it of course because of the miniseries when I was on a JRM kick, but I totally love the book version too (though it's been a while so I don't remember all of it very well). But yes, the hannibal thing.. it's interesting, so JRM plays Steerpike and Gaspard Ulliel plays younger Hannibal.. and they tend to look similar in some pics (Though Gaspard is cuter) And book Steerpike and Hannibal both have creepy reddish maroon eyes.
Speaking of.. I want to see you draw Steerpike!!!

Those reddish eyes are just so hot though! I mean really--why don't people in the REAL world get to have garnet eyes? O___o Not fair! As not fair as rainbow colors being natural hair color. XD

Good work on making that Swelter guy grotesque, they blood is one thing, but the face gives you the, "Run like hell!!!" thing, lol.
Agreed, it actually helps when you know what to draw, even better when you're really into the character, well done kilderok!
Good work on the uniform with it stretches and the freaky kitchen background doesn't look too shabby either, excellent piece as usual. ^_^

HELLS YEAH! Although technically it's three books that are combined a la Lord of the Rings. Peake died of Parkinsons before being able to complete the series - I think it was supposed to be something like six books altogether. Doesn't stop the story from being fanbloodytastic, though.

Its a terrible thing it couldn't be finished yeah--I would hope something like that wouldn't happen to us but where peake only had himself we have more. X3

It's kind of a daunting thing, really, to begin this epic multi-part tale and hope you can live to see completion. A similar thing happened with Patrick O'Brian, author of the Aubrey-Maturin series of the British Royal Navy in the Napoleonic Wars. He passed away before the 21st novel could be completed, although it was published anyway.
You know what's actually a bit better than eBay? Half.com.

Well, half.com is actually affiliated with ebay.com but cheaper. They specialize in used books, DVDs, and CDs. But many of my friends have ordered from them in the past and were all quite pleased with the quality and condition of the merchandise.

oh kickass man! <3 Yeah, I'm SUPER proud of it too, I went on a TOTAL bender last night when I drew this up, it only took me three hours to draw, ink and color it. O__o; Can't imagine what it would look like had I spent a week on it or something!
SERIOUSLY THOUGH NO--I LOVE your swelter. I used your art as the MAJOR reference for my art and you should be MORE than proud, cause your skills are BADASS and I could NEVER shade and detail as well as you can with a pencil. I'm SUPER jealous of people who can shade as well as you, my shading ALWAYS still looks like lines no matter what I do, I can never make it dubiously shaded and lined at the same time. O__o
AND P'SHAW, You DO deserve the recognition dude. Theres SO many people who have more recognition and less talent, and while thats all fine and great it does NOTHING for the self-esteem of a wonderfully talented person like you. <3 *emoteALITTLE*
