it nearly KILLED me to draw this. It took about 30 hours TOTAL, which is UNHEARD OF for me because usually if I don’t finish an artpiece in 5-10 hours, I scrap it and move on to another.

I became WAY too personally attached to this picture while drawing it. You don’t even know. I just…I just…Okay, I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I don’t think you will laugh at me for it: I cried during this. Tears of sorrow. Not once. BUT TWICE. Just a half hour ago I started tearing up while putting finishing touches on the crashing waves and Richards face. JESUS. I couldn’t EVEN. My heart is POUNDING with stabby, sad pains right now even, I’m swallowing hard trying to keep all the emotions at bay. I’m not a crier usually. While putting the finishing touches on this one, the unplugged version of The Cranberries “Zombie” came on and I just LOST ALL OF MY STUFF.

I just…ALL THESE FEELS.

Okay, so here’s the breakdown. God these feels…okay, I wanted to show the inner turmoil of Richard in both his expression, and the very environment around him. Crashing waves, a sky full of lightning, an oncoming storm whipping the black ocean up in a fury, and a single tear running down Harrow’s face as he takes off his mask an raises his hand to the ruined side of his face, remembering his two murdered friends, his only friends in the world. I wanted the phrase “what am I to do now?” to ring true throughout this picture, with Richard standing at the verge of the dock, on the very precipice of land and sea itself, the ghostly images of Jimmy and Angela behind him, lingering.

Okay, I’m shaking harder than I was a moment ago now. Guh…so much pain. It was also tough of me to draw something I take so personally, afraid others won’t get it, or won’t like it. But -gulp- okay…here it is. -SIGH-
