Description I'm not sure about this one... I like the colours (although in the slide there's a hint of green in the water that I lost somewhere in the upload process) and I like the lighting... but I wonder if it's a strong image. It feels lacking a focal point to me... what about to you?

Wow - I meant to comment on this WAY earlier.

In my opinion, this photo is a great abstract which focuses on texture and colour and as such, doesn't need a focal point. The photo itself is a focal point (okay, now I'm just sounding pretentiously weird). I would almost dare to say you wouldn't want one as it would stop the eye from roving about and discovering all the nuances in the rock and water.

I know the purple bits on the rock are natural, but they're a bit too saturated and high contrast for my liking. If you wish to tone them down a bit, you could attack them with a lasso tool followed by a feather and then some desaturation and recolouring.

Bottom line: I likes me this photo.

Cool, thanks for the PS-speakese in words I can understand. I will try your suggestion because it would look better toned down a bit. (my pitiful attempts made me laugh, but yours should work!)

You're right. It doesn't have a focal point, but then, it doesn't really need one. It's really pretty just how it is.

hmmm... it does lack a focal point but the beauty of the entire piece definitely makes up for it. The colors are as usual amazing (and i know why now... ) and the shot is beautifully composed. Wonderful work!

Its an alright shot but the purple on the rock just seems to draw my eye to it too much since its so unnatural, I'd suggest changing that...

I like this, a very calm and relaxing picture it might have been more interesting with a subject in it, but its very beautiful in its simpleness

The colors in this are a delight to look at. That beautiful shades of purple in the misty looking waves compliment all the great shades of those rocks. I don't think a focal point is always necessary. Beauty has it's own special quality, and you certainly captured that here.

I agree with you about the lighting and the colors. But about the focal point...well, I guess I see photography more like poetry than a short story. There doesn't always need to be a focal point or subject. Sometimes it's about the mood that is created. And I think the mood of this shot is so wonderfully peaceful and beautiful.

Thanks for the re-inforcement and the thought that not every image needs to have a strong focal point... I like your thought that it's more like flowing poetry! thanks as well for the

Well, it's certainly worth posting..the colors are mystical, and that alone makes it stand out as a superb image. It does lack a focal point, but then again, a real focal point might have stolen too much of our attention from the textures and colors..I like it a lot.

Wildly magical... although the rocky mountains're defiant, the mist seemed to be singing its different tune :

no matter what your might it is,
I can still dwell in every corner of you
I can hallucinate you with my
zillion of hypnotic shades
of color of ocean from
tranculent to seemless misty blue.

I can tease you
I've a memory of
infinite hazy episodes.

I can shiever,
even coat you
with unimaginable icy-flames.

I'm your eternal destiny
I'm the strength, fire
of your very Spirit.

Cheers...!

Holy Moly!

I see where you are coming from ("...lacking a focal point...") but nevertheless it's a stronger image than 90% of everything that gets posted here.
What makes this one special for me is your ingenious way of using colors and the tones here are pure eye candy.
Some fellow Deviant said "...the intersection between the clouds and the rocks..." and you see, you tricked him out with this one, as he misinterpreted the spray of the waves with clouds and that's the beauty with photography in general and this shot...everyone finds an own interpretation and sees things and meanings in it that weren't intended by the person who took the photo.
Do I get too philosophical and carried away here?
Maybe, but each photo of yours (honestly) blows me away.
Is it a strong image? I would say yes...

Sascha, what did I do to deserve such wonderful comments from you? Truly, I really appreciate your words, and the time that you take looking into each image and give me your honest thoughts.
Thank you as well, giving me another angle of this image, that maybe the graphic qualities overpower the need for a focal point.
Again, thank you so much!

very nice mixture of land and sea. an interesting part of this photo is the color combination of orange and blueish hues. they complement each other very well. good job.

I think it does lack a focal point, however there is enough there to keep me interested. I Really like the effect of the rocks showing through the waves.

I think the strong colors and the rock textures is the picture's focal point. But I'm no art officiando...

But I love this piece! Again the water looks so soft that it looks like clouds!! How did you do that? Just by keeping the shutter open for 3 seconds? Simply amazing!

With the waves pounding the rocks having the shutter open for 3 seconds was long enough to capture this misty/fog look... on a rough, windy day you should go to a nearby lake/ocean/river and try some long exposure shots!

It is lacking an individual focal point yet you could consider the intersection between the clouds and the rocks to be an extended focal point. I like it but agree it does seem to be missing something, it lacks some relatable or memorable quality.
