Description
EDIT: These guys have now been given names, due to contest held by certain group. And so they are (you guess which is which):
H'mxta'h
Esthenom
Rogdozuub
Developed from Larvae, Other Gods become most powerful beings in existence. They take endless variety of shapes so IΒ
was quite free yet confined for I had to make narrow choice. Three completely different forms are meant to present a piece of the Gods' variety.
Azathoth, Nyarlathotep, Yog-Sothoth and Shub Niggurath, which all you can find in my gallery (book fan art folder) Are also included in this group.
"(...)Azathoth, Lord of All Things, encircled by his flopping horde of mindless and amorphous dancers, and lulled by the thin monotonous piping of a demoniac flute held in nameless paws."
H.P. Lovecraft, The Haunter Of the Dark
"(...)amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin, monotonous whine of accursed flutes; to which detestable pounding and piping dance slowly, awkwardly, and absurdly the gigantic Ultimate gods, the blind, voiceless, tenebrous, mindless Other gods whose soul and messenger is the crawling chaos Nyarlathotep."
H. P. Lovecraft, The Dream-Quest Of Unknown Kadath
"Here the vast Lord of All in darkness muttered
Things he had dreamed but could not understand,
While near him shapeless bat-things flopped and fluttered
In idiot vortices that ray-streams fanned."
H. P. Lovecraft, Fungi from Yuggoth XXII. Azathoth

i would imagine an accretion disk full of these creatures in ethereal colors surrounding Azathoth (or as i imagine, an ultramassive black hole bigger than the biggest galaxy supercluster where Azathoth lives inside and is still asleep).

Nice.... If nightmares have incarnations, those are definitely among them. I believe it takes a very twisted brain to come up with those (or to draw them XP ).

Kuranes is in "Celephais" and "Dream-Quest" but he is warned off the central void by the friendly violet gas S'n-gac. So, tho he roamed the expanse where matter and form is only a rumor, he stayed AWAY from Azathoth's abyssed abode.

I think it was mentioned somewhere that he's the only known man to Β have seen it. And even if he didn't there is Keziah and all the other cultists, of all plentiful unspeakable cults.

If summoned, Azathoth will appear with at least one flute-player, whose music will delay the untoward consequences of your mad pointless summoning ! Even the Necronomicon purposely omits the summoning rite -just like the Nng formula * - as summoning Azathoth brings no benefits but only total insanity to the summoner.
* The slightest mistake in intoning the Nng formula results in becoming an inert rock for all eternity. The slightest ! Abdul AlHazred wisely refrained from inditing the syllables to his pages.

I see... Well I am not convinced that sight ov Azathoth causes insanity. There were some people mentioned to see it without such consequences. There was Kuaranes (I tink I got his name right..) And Keziah Mason. None of them suffered any mental damage from the sight. I guess the thing is that Lovecraft's narrators are usualy very cowardly and weak-hearted fellows. They over-reacted to most things... Β I bet that Azathoth is horrible and hideous to behold but not nearly as bad as they try to call it.

Kuranes never did see Azathoth, because S'ngac warned him never to approach the central voids. And I doubt Keziah saw Azathoth himself. They were definitely in the Court, but from Dream-QuestΒ you can see that there's many layers of larvae and Other Gods before you actually reach the horror...

I don't remembert it so much maybe you are right. But wasn't Keziahmentioned to approach throne of Azathoth rather than his court?

Well, yes...take him to the curiously environed black Throne of Chaos at the center of all infinity where there are vast leaping shadows and the whining of frightful flutes and all that...

None of Lovecraft's gods have any function. Earth ,for some mysterious reason, draws many of them. Cthulhu, Tsathoggua, Chaugnar Faugn, and while the Elder Ones had no trouble with shoggoths on other worlds, they found them intractable on earth.
