Description Evening in the thought quarry is sublime. The newly collected memories are finally digitized.  After the day’s work, I relax and sort them, evaluating their body and character.

I load a new one titled “Elizabeth," dated for last week. I open the sensory log and dive.

I see green hills and the occasional flower. Clear skies. The sight has terrific clarity.

I pluck a nearby dandelion. The aroma is sweet and earthy. I take a greedy sniff and feel the sharp prick of a stinger. I tear away the insect. The pain finely accents the fragrance.

I detect powerful enthusiasm for the loneliness of these hills, for the absence of civilization. A second swallow, however, reveals the slightest touch of longing. This excitement is complex and flavorful. I find myself slipping, empathizing with the experience.

The finish has a bite. Fever sets in. My tongue swells. My knees buckle. I collapse, numb and useless. I taste regret. I wish there were people around. I wish I wasn’t alone sorting trophies as a surrogate for genuine human interaction.

I see a figure. A flush of optimism cleans my palate. I become hopeful. He moves in close and inserts a needle. There’s a minute before I realize his motivation. My eyes shut in cold surrender.

When I resurface, I decide I liked it. Excellent depth. Rich aftertaste. The chance to watch myself at work was a nice touch. I give the file top marks and prepare to load another.

Now this is what I call gorgeous work. I particularly like your use of short, to-the-point sentences, it really sets a mood for the narrator. Congrats on the DLD

Congrats on your DLD!
This seems (to me) nearly too sad, too alone and full of regrets, but the way it's written as if from a wine connoiseur saves it nicely. Thank you.

Ahaha! I read the title after I read the piece and hit "Reply."
Part of my comment must seem foolish indeed!
But you're very welcome.

I take greedy sniff and feel the sharp prick of a stinger.

You're missing an "a" before greedy.
