Description So.. this is the updated Temple model I have been working on. I really wasn't happy with the roof being so flat and all so I added a hole bunch of extra polygons to give it some more depth, Why I didn't use normal maps? Well I did but it didnt give me the desired effect that I wanted
Seeing I had a max polycount of 10k I figured I added some other stuff to break the symmetry a bit^^
I ended up with 9300 polygons, hope you like it!

Any feedback is always welcome ofcourse

Who knows, might redo the model in the future again or something similar to it.... as long as there isnt a teacher that says I have to write a 3500 word essay about it >.<

it looks great, much better than the old version!... the tents and crates really help make it more interesting
you could give marmoset a try.... it has some nice lights and post process (optional)
i'd sure like to see how it looks in there!

Thats really cool mate, the texturering is really nice and the model is solid Only thing is a think the Roof tiles looks to big, this makes the entire model look way smaller than it really is

Ooh a quick tip, once youve done the model all correct and solid. Dont be afraid to bend some of the woodem pillars an so on. Get some nice curved and bended angles in there

LionHead and their game Fable does this really well. Gets out alot of atmosphere and age to the building

Keep it coming

I might might come back to this model or make a similar looking model and tweak it more ofcourse I learned quite a lot from making this one, both modeling wise as well as texturing wise Will try to make a new thing soon again when I have some more time!

The tent cloth look kinda hard still, maybe bevel it for smoothness?

May I ask about the process you used to create the shingles? I'm assuming you created a modular pattern and then applied some modifiers to get it to fit the form of the roof, but if you could clarify that'd be great!

Hey there the way I did it was as following:
As you can see in the previous version [link] the roof was just a simple flat mesh with a texture applied to it. I wasn't very happy with it so I decided to give it some more depth. The way i did that was with the texture still applied I just created extra edges on the side of the shingles. Once I got that I selected them and extruded them up. Now this gives some stretching in the newly created mesh so I re-UV unwrapped it and then reapplied the texture to it to make it fit. That part didn't require a lot of work seeing I made my cuts properly. The I selected some edges and softened them up and that was the result I got

Hope this helped you out a bit

I see you added lamps on the roof corners he he..
Also the overall appearance seems somewhat warmer.

yeah the lamps could have been placed better, but after sitting behind the comp for 9 straight hours I really didn't feel like it anymore and decided that this was going to be it
