Description Original template here. Choose your Lantern MEME (UPDATED)

All right people. It is 2020 and the has long since passed for me to post my first Choose Your Lantern meme of this new year.

Red-Rage: Kratos (God of War); Now here's another choice for Rage that I think everyone will agree is an obvious pick, regardless of whether you're a GoW fan or not. The fact of the matter is that there are few people in this game series who have crossed paths with Kratos and have not pissed him off somehow. And once something triggers him, Kratos goes into an enraged state that leaves nothing but destroyed corpses in his wake. A Red Lantern ring would easily amplify his power beyond anything he's ever accomplished before, to the point where he'd barely have to use his massive weapons arsenal all that much, because that ring alone would supply him with power to spare in bringing down the gods. And even if we were to look exclusively at how Kratos is portrayed in the new game, I'd still put him in this corps but I would say he is more likely to control and focus his rage instead of just acting out with blind anger as his only weapon.
“If all of Olympus will deny me my vengeance, then all of Olympus will die!”

Orange-Avarice: Nami (One Piece); Moving on to a lot of people's favorite girl, including mine, from One Piece, this was another easy one for me to call. While she has proven that she does have a heart and formed very close relationships with other members of the Strawhat crew, one of Nami's main motivations is still getting her hands on as much money as she can, and then some. And with an Orange Lantern ring, she'd have an easier time getting a hold of it, as it would grant her power she's never felt before, possibly to the point that no one else on the crew would be able to match her at all. One thing is for sure, she'd be able to get her hands on more than enough gold to build a house made entirely out of the stuff and would live in the lap of luxury till her dying day.
“If you think I'm just another cute girl, you're dead wrong!”

Yellow-Fear: Mewtwo (Pokemon); Now mostly, I'm going off how Mewtwo was portrayed in Pokemon: The First Movie, a movie that I believe is massively underrated, but that's a different can of worms. Anyway, when we see Mewtwo first unleash his power against the scientists who created him for Giovanni, it really does make my skin crawl every time, especially when the lead guy says moments before his end, "We dreamed of creating the world's strongest Pokemon...and we succeeded." Then we got imagine the shock factor Mewtwo must have had on all the trainers who came to challenge Mewtwo when he was with Giovanni as we watch him casually defeat every single challenger's Pokemon with a single attack. And if not for his witnessing the true bond of friendship shared between Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu, I don't think there would have been anything that anyone could have done to stop his plans of global domination. And that's why a Yellow Lantern ring would only serve to help Mewtwo instill greater levels of fear against anyone who would dare oppose him.
"I will find my own purpose... and purge this planet of all who oppose me, human and Pokémon alike. The world will heed my warning: The Reign of Mewtwo will soon begin."

Green-Willpower: Link (Legend of Zelda); Okay, this one should have been obvious, what with most versions of this character is dressed in green. That being said, I did also consider Link as a candidate for a Blue Lantern, equipping him with a ring powered by hope. But at the end of the day, I chose willpower because one single factor: the Triforce of Courage. Most incarnations of Link have him equipped with the Triforce of Courage, and courage is often a trait associated with willpower as means of overcoming fear, something Link would have had to do regularly when facing off against the hopeless odds of trying to stop Ganondorf. And in the end, his courage has always been Link's greatest strength, one that has saved the lands of Hyrule generation after generation.
"I've visited all thirteen places and remembered everything that was between me and Zelda. It's hard to imagine how she overcame all the hardships fate had in stock for her... I must save her soon, to see the smile on her face again."-Link's Journal

Blue-Hope: Nathaniel Renko (Singularity); So in the end, hope was the hardest spot to fill this time. In the end, I decided to broaden my search for possible candidates for characters who are symbols of hope to others rather than just those who are naturally hopeful. Recently, I got my hands on a copy of the game Singularity for the X-Box 360, a fun game that I definitely recommend checking out playthroughs for. The main protagonist of this game is a man named Captain Nathaniel Renko, a time-hopping freedom fighter trying to save the world after accidentally causing a mad Soviet named Demichev to seize power on a global scale by saving him from a burning fire. Renko then teams up with one Demichev's former partners, Doctor Barisov, inventor of a time manipulating glove called the TMD. As a an elite soldier, Renko is essentially the world's best and only shot at restoring the timeline and undoing Demichev's reign of terror. He gives people like Barisov and members of MIR-12, the resistance movement opposing Demichev, hope that there's a chance to still see a brighter future one day. Plus, combining the TMD with a Blue Lantern Ring would be just plain awesome.
"Only the victors rewrite the history books."-Barisov and Demichev

Indigo-Compassion: Asami Sato (Legend of Korra); Now the last time I made one of these memes, I got some constructive criticism that I was choosing characters for rings of compassion based on their natural personality traits instead of having compassion forced onto them like some members of the Indigo Lantern Corps have in the actual lore of DC Comics. So this is my first attempt to try and broaden my list of possible candidates for this type, though won't stop choosing characters by natural personality traits either. Anyway, while I do think that Asami's defining character traits can be described as caring and compassionate, she was also someone who has also shown a cold attitude to those who have betrayed her trust, most notably her father when she discovered that he was supporting the Equalist movement of Amon, a man determined to rid the world of bending completely, dividing benders and non-benders along the way. By the time we get to Legend of Korra's final season, we see Asami go to see her father for the first time since he was arrested. Originally, she only came there to return all the letters he'd been sending her and to tell him she never wanted to see him again. But later on, she comes back after seeing some kids playing with their parents and is reminded of life was like for her before Amon ruined her life for a time, a time back when she was loved by both of her parents. She is then able to show compassion to her father once again, and that compassion is not wasted on the man, as he makes the ultimate sacrifice to give Team Avatar their chance to stop Kuvira when she invaded Republic City, saving his daughter along the way. Before and after losing her father, Asami has been through plenty of experiences that have tested how much compassions she's willing to show to those around her, but in the end, she's always made the right decision in this regard.
"You don't need to apologize for anything. I'm just so happy you're here now. I don't think I could have handled losing you and my father on the same day.”

Violet-Love: Lubbock (Akame ga Kill); And now we've got another Akame ga Kill character on one of these memes, one of my favorite manga series to get adapted into an anime. Our first member of Night Raid so far, I chose to use Lubbock first because he was the most interesting person to chose for a Lantern Corps. In the end, though, I chose love because of his feelings for Najenda, Night Raid's leader, or as she's called more often, the Boss. While typically seen behaving as a pervert, Lubboch has consistently proven that the love he feels for Najenda is legit. When he was a boy, he never had any need to take part in the rebel movement to overturn the corrupt Empire because he was born into wealth nad had pretty much anything he could want. But then he met Najenda, who was an Imperial general at the time, and to prove himself to her, he was willing to leave his comfortable life behind and become a soldier and even faked his death so he could still be with Najenda when she ultimately deserted and joined the Rebels. If that doesn't show a person's commitment to another, I don't know what was, and even after Lubbock died, he was still remembered fondly by his surviving friends in Night Raid, Najenda included.
"There’s no way to train your heart to be invulnerable."

White-Life: All Might (My Hero Academia); Truly, there's no lantern corps better suited for MHA's Symbol of Peace, All Might. For the longest time, Toshinori Yagi was one of the few people in the world without any super powers, but he still wanted to be a hero and become a symbol for the people he'd save. When he ultimately got that chance, he made the most of it and was better than his word, becoming a hero who saves others with a smile on his face to give people reassurance and hope for a better tomorrow. He embodied everything one should expect from a hero and more and when the time came for him to teach the next generation of heroes, including his successor Izuku Midoriya, he didn't shy away from the chance to help others be the best of themselves even after he lost his power for good. All Might's someone who has made an impression on countless people, both in the My Hero Academia series and its fandom and has served as a great example of living the best life you can for yourself and those around you.
"Fear not, citizens! Hope has arrived! Because I am here!"

Black-Death: Viren (Dragon Prince); Now back in 2019, I was watching this video from a youtuber who goes by Needle Mouse Productions. The guy's a big DC fan and he sometimes looks ar characters from different franchises to determine what Lantern Corps the main cast would be suited for. One of these videos was for Dragon Prince, and his observations were made after Season 3 of the series had been released, so he was up to date when he posted that video. Viren was the last character he analyzed and said that he was ultimately the hardest one to pick a Lantern Corps for. I personally disagree there and consider death to be the one that makes the most sense for him. Even before he became a full-fledged villain, Viren was someone with a lot of blood on his hands, as we seen in the flashback scenes of Dragon Prince Seasons 2 and 3. It was he who convinced King Harrow to seek out a magma titan in the land of Xadia and use its heart to save the kingdoms of Katolis and Duren from a terrible winter that required the expedition to kill the creature, and then Harrow's wife and the two queens of Duren were killed when there attacked by the Dragon King on their way back. Then later, Viren convinced Harrow to take revenge on the dragon and kill him out of revenge, which would later prompt the elves of Xadia to send assassins to kill him in turn. But things don't stop there as Viren earns even more blood on his hands once he falls under the influence of Aaravos, who convinced him to assassinate the leaders of the other kingdoms to rally them to war against the elves and then seeking out powerful artifacts and killing anyone who got in his way, even turning his army into monstrous creatures, all but killing their humanity and leading them to what was ultimately a salughter for his cause. It's safe to say that Viren is a complicated man indeed, but no one can deny that he has so much blood on his hands.
"I always seem to capture the same expression: defiance giving way to absolute fear."

That's great. About All Might, I think he can be Blue Corp as well. Because of the very idea of him, "the symbol of peace", his one line makes him a good blue lantern especially, and we both know perfectly well what this line is.

That is a good point. The reason I put him in the White Corps was because he has so many affinities, it was hard to pick one for him. So having him as a White Lantern candidate was meant to reflect that.

I honestly thought Mewtwo would be a Red Lantern, since he is angry at humanity.

Good point, though fear still honestly came to mind with me first, and since I had decided to include Kratos on the list, there was no question who would get the Red Lantern spot this time around. XD
