Description Once again, the water effects are a bit different and not entirely successful......damn...water is hard!

At least it looks okay from the thumbnail XD

Another diving pic for
Sorry if the pose isn't terribly exciting, but I wanted to do a different angle underwater shot this time XD

what are you kidding me, man this is very impressive! When I heard of Hayao Miyazaki making the animation Ponyo he talked about how painting even animating water was difficult as well as a challenge because well let's face it, water isn't a solid therefore it's always moving which is why it's so hard to manipulate and create correctly. Man I think you're doing very well for Todd.

Beautiful work Kitfox!

Thank you XD

and yeah, I really appreciate it when people animate water well...because I know how hard it is! Ponyo was amazing!

XD Yes it is!

I just wanted to ask one thing, why is it that the ocean floor below Ikrisia lifeless? I mean, shouldn't there be fish and sealife frolicing about?

Not really in small freshwater pools, you get the occasional fish and some slime but that's about it XD

Indeed, it should be apparent since I keep asking for aquatic themes! They're very beautiful indeed!

CorsaBlue In reply to ToddMcCloud [2011-01-12 19:30:54 +0000 UTC]

lol, well keep at it because I seem to be enjoying Kitfox's imaginative insight to how he depicts your aquatic themes. Yes, not only are they beautiful, my father seems to of taken a liking to it as well. He's growing to like ocean scene's as I am. Perhaps I'll be asking for themes like this later in the future.

PS. lovely character, Ikrisia really is a cheerful explorer ^^

They're really cool. This dude has an awesome talent when it comes to aquatic stuff. I just tell him what my character's doing and what she's basically wearing. He's got a knack for the aquatic scenery / pictures, that's for sure!

As for Ikrisia, she's kind of a different person under the water. On land she's a taskmaker of a leader, cold, even a little cruel. Below water, her other personality comes out. She's happier, nicer, and much more relaxed. It's kind of neat writing all of that out, lol

I suppose that's why you coming back for more, ehh?

Haha! "It's kind of neat writing all of that out, lol" It's kinda neat reading and knowing more about her through you.

Now, Todd's got me wanting Kit to do some aquatic scenes of my characters. lol

We also get an excellent view of her back. The hair is excellently done.

Well, she certainly looks like she's having fun diving! Plus we get a shot of her tank assembly on the back! (Kind of ironic how this almost matches up to a recent roleplay post of mine involving her, how she's looking up and watching bubbles float to the top).

Awesome!

Indeed, nice fluke haha. I don't know if she's going to be doing any freshwater diving anytime soon, but that does not matter - the scenery here is excellent!

still looks good. the thumbnail was impressive though... i can really sense the floating sensation here, being suspended in the narrow space between the surface and the bottom. nice work!

Hummm I'm not an expert but you could try the next: Divide the background in diferent layers with different blur level; and put over all of it a layer of "dirt", the sea water is not like a pool.
Other effect that you can see under water is different colours. The colours get colder when you dive deeper, until a point that you only see blue (even the blood is blue )
I think that the pose is the opposite to exciting. Its very peaceful

kitfox-crimson In reply to nocara [2011-01-12 07:30:42 +0000 UTC]

This is more of a small freshwater rock pool type thing...collecting from a river. They're alot cleaner and stuff than regular sea water, but yes, everything you say is true!

Hey, it's definately better than me, man
The main reason that water is hard to draw is because it's a shapeless object, so light and shadow seems to have their own shape and form. And you succeeded in that!
Definately an insta-
